So Jalponik, in more than one article (you only linked one) blamed Autopilot, even though several commenters (myself included) proved it wouldn’t be possible simply because of the rate of acceleration that had to happen and where it happened.

Months later, what we already knew is proven.  Now you decide to lean towards

Honestly I’m fine with all these tech companies moving to Texas, it’s what has been shifting the state blue over the last 20 years. If enough blue gets injected to flip it then there is literally no path to the presidency for conservatives which is a win in my book.

$35,000 in 2016 dollars when that was advertised is $40,000 in 2021 dollars. So until yesterday, it was still the same price, except with even better specs: 262 miles instead of 220, Autopilot included (formerly a $5000 upgrade), leather interior standard, glass roof standard.

Some people just want to watch the world turn

Its not $1000 Brad. The user terminals are $500USD. You put down a $99 deposit and then when you get magically picked to participate in the “Beta” program they charge the remainder and a shipping charge. Ask me how I know.

Maybe this topic would have been better suited for someone without so much hatred/bias against Musk.

The real problem is we as a society are just dumb. Autopilot is the right term for what Tesla does, we are just stupid and create our own definitions. Ask anyone what woke, political correctness or critical race theory mean and no one will give you a book definition, you’ll just get their theory.

And?

Structural integrity for spinning at 20,000 RPM to take a nearly 5,000 lb car with 5 people inside to 200 mph

That’s a lot of conjecture you’re dishing out. The demand for the Plaid Plus was very high. I believe that it’s more likely the Plus, that wasn’t scheduled until the end of the year, was cannibalizing orders of the Model S Plaid which is going to be launched within days. Another, not necessarily separate scenario... si

Being electric doesn’t make these oversized monstrosities any less wasteful than ICE.”

They ARE the answer. I know it may be hard for you to understand but as product development improves and technology increases the battery weight will decrease.  Difficult concepts to grasp but give it a shot.

Whoa whoa whoa.  If you’re going to have write ups on committed fans making baseless claims on the internet you’re going to need a whole new site just for that.

A larger, less-aerodynamic vehicle with a larger battery will have a lot less impact on its range when it’s towing. Think of how much more power you need to tow a trailer with a hatchback, whereas a full-size truck will tow the same trailer like it’s nothing. A 400-mile pickup should get 200-250 miles with that same

I wonder what the odds will be that a red flag is going to come out during the race... because I will be taking those odds.

Carbon tax... carbon tax...

Until EV marketshare becomes significant enough to really dent gas tax revenue, this seems a solution in search of a problem. Right now, the biggest problem with the gas tax is that it’s been the same since the early 1990s. Yes, EVs get a free ride, but we are already giving people up to $7,500 cash to buy an EV. If

As noted early in the post, Tesla already has a giant battery in Australia, and I haven’t seen any reports that it isn’t doing exactly what was expected. I don’t think anybody cares about panel gaps on battery cases.

Tesla did something so difficult that the other car manufacturers would rather pay them 100's of millions of dollars than do it themselves, and that’s somehow a bad thing?

That’s when we’ll know Tesla has really made it.
