That scene from Flight of the Navigator when the little alien ate the kid's hat. I watched the move several times and even though I knew it was going to happen it still made me jump.

It was the one with the creature coming out of movie screen that got me. I didn't know what it was at the time, but I believe it was Count Orlok from Nosferatu.
Nah, it's gotta be Atreyu's stand off with Gmork the wolf.
I hadn't seen them say anything about Rock Band 3, so that's exciting if they can make something happen. Though I'm really not sure how that would work since there was never an export key for RB3 on last gen like there was for RB1 and RB2. Now that we've moved on to the next consoles, I wonder how they'd handle that.…
Yeah, it may not sway me when price and feature set are also being considered, but if you can only have one console, I would at least consider which games will be available for which console.
While admitting that any of these games could disappoint, I'm excited for:
Gears of War 4
ReCore
Quantum Break
Cuphead
Scalebound
Crackdown 3
Sea of Thieves (that new Rare game, fingers crossed)
This last weekend the Mrs. and I purchased an Xbox One in anticipation of this game, and the pre-order is on its way. This has been the first generation where I didn't get all the consoles as soon as they came out, so we've exclusively been a PS4 household the past couple years.
Nice write up from someone who's lived it.
Games in which it is merely an element of a larger thing I often like. Shadows Over Camelot, BSG. But games that are almost entirely about identification tend not to work for me. Werewolf, The Resistance, Shadow Hunters. I find them boring, and they tend to always play out the same way.
Every time I play The Resistance or Werewolf I think: this game would be better with busty anime chicks.
I dislike FF5 too much to obsess over it, but I've definitely got those tendencies. As far as I'm concerned, a run of FF6 isn't complete until every character, even the one's I'm not taking to the final dungeon, are level 99 and know all the spells. FF12? Every character should have every license. FF7? My core team…
I'm in the same boat. I don't know if because I solo'd the game I missed out on those interactive opportunities with other players, but while I found the game beautiful and worth playing, it didn't leave much of a lasting impression. Compared to other indie releases of the generation around that time - Fez, Bastion,…
Indie game or no, Bastion is a top 10 release of the last generation. Maybe top 5. I picked up Transistor on one of the many sales some months back, but I haven't played it yet. I need to.
Gimme a line of ten or so bags and a pair of scissors, and I'll be good for at least two minutes of zoned out bliss.
I thought of that Elementary episode, too. The scene when Sherlock speaks with Kitty before she makes the decision of what to do with her attacker is perfection.
I can't count it for this year since I did most of my playing in 2014, but I'm glad to see the love for The Pre-Sequel. I do think it's a lesser game than 2, but I still found it terrific fun and have been slowly working through a run with the sniper DLC character. Hammerlock's sister. I've got all the DLC, too, so I…
Yeah, the rally is a terrific mechanic that subtly encourages the more aggressive style of play you need to succeed in Bloodborne. Oh boy did I miss it when I tried Dark Souls 2 after completing Bloodborne.
There are so many games I want to play from this year's show. Really one of the strongest years for me personally in many years. But, if somebody just stacked them up in front of me right now and said pick one, I'd have to grab the Remake.
I thought Four Swords was really fun even playing solo, so I do have some hope here if they have a solo mode. However, even just watching that short presentation I was already bored of the stacking Links. I already felt, "Okay, I get it." So that's not good.
I'm cautiously optimistic that they've heard the fans voices all these years and will keep it weird. Yeah, Honeybee Inn, at least in the original form, maybe not, but I do believe that whole scenario will be there and just as odd in the new game, even if they have to make changes so it's less icky.
