Oh, good reminder about Prey 2. I was looking forward to that one.

It's like an Onion headline:
"Valve Software realizes it forgot to release Half-Life 3 after completing development in 2009."

The ending of the first season came as a surprise, since I'd not even considered the show would be more than a one-season lark and had assumed from the first episode that it would be wrapped up by the end.

Oh man, Rock & Roll Racing was the best! The phrase "Tarquin has launched himself" is permanently burned into my mind.

Shit! I came in here just to mention this line. Calling a shotgun a "crowdpleaser" really tickled my 9-year old self.

The combination of "Wax Simulacra" and "Goliath" is maybe the best single stretch of music in their catalog.

I like The Mars Volta more overall, just because they have so much more total music that I like. But Relationship of Command still might be my favorite thing the duo has ever produced. Really an untouchable record.

Piano Lessons Can Be Murder was the one I remember finding the most creepy.

I'm late to this article, but I do have two thoughts that most fit this thread:

I've never made that mistake, but probably 10+ times I've accidentally copied a person who's e-mail I just needed to look up. So, I'm e-mailing a coworker about a client, can't remember the client's address, use my Outlook's auto-complete to figure it out, then forget to remove them from the To line.

I know the name, so I must have seen it down here at some point.

The Warlock is probably the only pumpkin beer left that I like. I've never found it overpowering (the Pumpking on the other hand).

Mrs. Snape is a cider connoisseur and likes Strongbow well. If you ever have a little cash to splurge with and want a special experience, try any of Angry Orchard's Cider House series: Strawman, Iceman, or The Muse. Remarkably complex, flavorful ciders (that hit hard at around 9%, too).

Inspired by the Hot Brown sandwich, I made something that wasn't really a hot brown at all: griddled pumpernickel, vinegar braised radicchio and onions, griddled pastrami, cheddar cheese, then popped under the broiler 'til bubbly and brown.

Earlier this week I did a Muffaletta pasta. Spaghetti in white wine sauce tossed with hot giardiniera, olives, diced salami, cherry tomatoes and pine nuts.

Have fun with your cockroaches, old man.

Meet-Up Thread
There is a Dallas meet-up scheduled for this Thursday, 6:30-ish at the Holy Grail Pub in Plano. 3 clubbers are confirmed with one additional maybe.

Asylum is the best of the series by a fair mile. Yeah, good pick.

Bottling a coffee porter myself this weekend. Dallas brewery Community Brewing makes a truly phenomenal version that I am trying to ape. The first of 4 brews I have planned for the fall.

100% gorgonzola? That seems intense.
