That’s actually a good point. The trailers for the second movie really have a snyderverse vibe of death and destruction. The trailers for the first movie really centered around goofy kid-with-super-powers hijinks.

I feel like the trailers made a fatal mistake. You gotta show Billy as a kid first, a superhero second. Without the kid angle, he just comes off like an awkward and off-putting generic superhero.

Movie was better than the trailers made it seem to be brutally honest

I don’t think the general public is aware that the DCEU (a term they probably don’t know) is being rebooted into the DCU, so I doubt that was the main problem. But, as someone who hasn’t seen either movie, I can’t help but think this movie should have been a buddy flick between Shazam and Superman, especially given

That’s too bad. He was a caterpillar who knew how to get bizay. Consistently and thoroughly.

Mr. Mind died on the way to his home planet.

Is Mr. Mind the villain? Because if the bad guy is an evil space caterpillar, I might be talked into seeing it.

I did my part by sneaking into this movie after paying for 65. Opening night in the IMAX theater, and there were maybe 15 other people in the room.

Latter day AV Club writer has gall to complain about syntax.

I forgot about this one! So good. His comedy roles were always my favorite. Brilliantly pulled off absurd yet menacing.

Well, there’s only one of me, so I hope you’re content with only getting 1/50 of Lance Reddick back.

I’d be one of those 50 sacrificed to improve our culture. Which volcano should I head to?

Now playing

He was great in every role, but the first thing that always comes to mind is the Toys R Me sketch. Intimidating and hilarious is a tough combo to pull off.

I think I remember reading a comment about that scene somewhere how he was basically a living version of a model of the human muscle/skeletal system you would see at a doctor's office.

An actor who classed up anything he appeared in. 60 is way too young.

RIP.

and I’d like to forget it.

No, I know.  We’re just very protective of him.  lol

Same. Also on Firefox.

Speaking of bugs, is anyone else constantly having to login to their Kinja account lately? Maybe it’s something new with my browser settings (FireFox via Android), but since around Dec this site never seems to retain my login session. I have to login multiple times a day to star or comment.

Changes his name from Pugh to Levi to get roles...then watches Florence Pugh get an Academy award nomination and star in Marvel projects.
