Hey, that's my line!

I gotta admit, in this era of hyper connectivity and information availability, I find it completely fascinating that Tommy Wiseau's background remains a mystery. Like, how is that even possible?

SIMMMMMSSSSS!!!

It's pretty telling that they seem down on people actually having discussions in the comments section, but I guess from their perspective every second you're doing that you aren't clicking on another article and generating more ad revenue. Kinja just encourages you to leave your one-off comment and move on. And based

I'm only 30, so too young to remember that time, but I always just assumed that it was the obsessive element that wasn't as prominent. As in, everyone liked Star Wars, but it wasn't a thing to have, oh, that discussion in Clerks about building the Death Star. That's what would get you labeled a nerd.

Isn't that more a biproduct of the authors? If there isn't going to be a change in how the authors interact with the commenters here, it shouldn't be a problem, right?

The Newswire especially has started to read like Gawker, Jezebel, etc. So, that's what concerns me more, that this just becomes the "news and culture" vertical that they were never able to fold into the other GM sites once the flagship folded.

Yeah, not really a Kinja issue but I'm more concerned that the site is just going to be merged with the editorial voice of the old Gawker sites, Fusion, etc.

For those of us who already have a Kinja account, is that going to create issues merging our Disqus accounts? Is it better to just delete whichever one we are less committed to?

I'd like to tack a rider to that—30 million upvotes to support the perverted arts.

Yes I would, BannerThief.

…wait, the next season of American Horror Story isn't focused on 9/11?

You can tell with the way he has open contempt for most of his callers, even though he only puts through people calling to agree with him. It's like some kind of strange performance art.

Since it is a very rare occasion for the AV Club to mention Rush Limbaugh, I want to take this opportunity to mention Al Franken's favorite euphemism for Limbaugh—10 pounds of shit in a 5 pound bag.

I was 10 in 1997, so it's pretty much the last year before I started seeking out and consuming pop-culture on my own. It makes everything in this list seem like the distant past, whereas something from 1998-1999 are actually rooted in memory for me.

Those additions to the beginning of A New Hope make it seem like the director had never worked on a movie before. Oh, the two main characters are talking? Let's have some droids fly in front of them.

Yeah, I wonder how many people are aware that he isn't being convicted for what made him famously hateable. The price gouging was to make back money for the rich clients of his hedge fund, who's money he lost and lied about it…hence the fraud.

I don't know why, but I really enjoy that Martin Shkreli is our most famous Albanian. Between this and those Liam Neeson Taken movies, is there a country with a worse reputation?

You're just mashing it now, Pattinson.

You know how Ted Cruz's college roommate went public with all the ways Ted was a pathetic, goober-ass dork in college? Can all of the people who knew this guy at Duke do the same?
