Haven't seen it yet. But man, the comments that this movie isn't realistic because teens aren't "smart" or "introspective" really kill me.

For what it's worth, the making out in the Anne Frank house scene was awkward in the book too. As a former museum docent, I had people on tours start getting fresh and it's never romantic for the onlookers despite the narration's attempt to justify it.

This entire article, the article its based on, and all the responses, make me not want to live in this exhausting ass world where we scrutinize everyone's behavior to the nth fucking degree.

It makes no sense to compare what Brooks did with the people profiled in Weingarten's excellent piece. They are completely different scenarios, and it undercuts your argument to put them in the same league. Regardless, I have no problem whatsoever with what Brooks did. You don't need to "tell everyone it's totally OK

*Sigh*

I could see how a man would feel attacked by the hashtag if he's a piece of shit who harasses women.

I'm sorry, being made fun of for being thin is just not the same as being made fun of for being fat. Apparently, some people felt it was inappropriate for me to share my height/weight ratio. I was only trying to explain that I AM thin and I think it's akin to a white person thinking cracker is as bad as nigger to say

#Won'tanyonethinkaboutthepooroppressedskinnypeople!

Men. I'm fucking sick of their shit.

One of Meg Cabot's books (ready or not) gives this very instruction. It's the perfect book for sex positive parents to give their middle school girls. About a girl who is in a serious relationship with the president's son and unsure if she wants to take the next step. It includes good advice (from the older sister)

Senior prank or señor prank?

Oh honey, go play your Oppression Olympics somewhere else.

As someone who has worked a lot with college housing - please talk to your roommate. If there is something they are doing that really bothers you just tell them. It's way better than letting it build. Especially because nine times out of ten — you're not going to get a new room.

A man calling himself a feminist is kind of like a white feminist calling herself a womanist or a chicana.

Um, it happens because men are predators as well. Let's not put this all on the women.

Silly me. I forgot that fat girls are supposed to be crying into their fat rolls while lying about being sexed up by hot tattooed muscle boys. I mean, in no ways could fat girl be charming, sexy, funny, intelligent, beautiful, witty, or all of the above.

I know there's a "happy ending" to all this, but this made me very sad:

Acknowledging female biology is not by default TERFy or transmisogynist. Particularly when there is so much shame and misinformation surrounding the female body.

You think this prank is fucking harmless? It's disgusting. You're fully capable for owning up to your bad decisions in high school.
