I used to hate inspections here in NY, but I got a little more context after the first few times visiting my wife’s family in Michigan. After seeing lots of wrecked but still driving cars and broken down nuggets abandoned on the sides of the highways, I’ve decided safety inspections make sense.

My dad grew up in a VW house, and he learned to drive in a rotation of bugs/busses and even an odd transporter. None of those were actually his though. When he bought his first new car it was this Corolla SR5 sport coupe with a 5 speed, and I’ve heard a lot about how much he loved it.

I am intrigued. I’ve made several types of cheese, and I own an air cooled engine. I’ve never thought to combine them. Clearly you should be EIC so I can understand this

Patrick - Thanks for the times you went to bat for Oppo, as well as everything else you did to keep this site together despite everything that has come at it.

Best of luck at the new gig Patrick. I guess the morse code taps while stating everything was fine yesterday was for real. Thanks for the work you put in here helping Jalopnik stay weird for as long as you have

The Jalopnik special forces are on the way. Of course, our fleet is composed mostly of rusty old wagons with half finished swaps and a few NA miatas. It might take a while so hang tight

Raph was there, with admittedly the most out there suggestion (still a pretty safe one though). You’re right about the lack of Torch or Tracy though

Somewhere gagged and bound in a mildew covered basement the muffled sounds of Torch crying ‘Mohs Ostentatienne Opera Car’ are repeating to no avail

I have not seen that. One can only hope it’s true

Unsafe at any speed!

Somehow I missed that part. It all makes sense now

Is the staff of jalopnik tied up somewhere while somebody else pretends to be them? I think this is the first time I remember one of these going down with all suggestions actually kind of making sense. There was no “buy this half finished pro mod car and put an extra set of seats in it. A roll came means it safe,

Not something I return to often (thankfully), but a couple of years ago when my OBXT started popping out of 5th gear after taking it to the drag strip I found a very specific tutorial on scoobymods.com. Complete with photos and ‘gotcha’ warnings it talked me through removing the transfer case off the back of the

In 2019, even James Bond is driving an automatic. How much you want to bet Q put a CVT in that DB5?

Very cool, but definitely not small enough. The WRC cars are all spec b cars. I did the math once and I believe the Impreza is almost 2 ft longer then most of the WRC cars. Not sure about the crosstrek, but it’d have to be pretty close to that as well.

Exactly. Ogier has won year after year, no matter what manufacturer he raced for. That stopped this year with him driving for them and suddenly it’s his fault? Citreon hasn’t really had a competitive car for a while now

My friend has a 9-3 with the v6. Not sure who tuned it, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was Vermont Tuning as we’re not too far from there and the power number sounds the same. I got to borrow that car for 2 weeks after a deer took out mine, and I can confirm - the tune really makes the car. When it really gets into

My friend has a non-wagon aero of that generation with a six speed and a tune, making around 350hp as well. He lent it to me for 2 weeks while I was out of a car due to a run in with a deer. I can confirm, it’s a fun time. It’ll spin the tires through first and second if you’re not careful, but when it hooks up it

I find that disappointing to hear. The corolla hatch is on my short list of cars to consider when I need a new commuter in a few years... but that’s a pretty big knock against it. I mean Subaru 5 speeds are not really known for their quality shift feel either so it’s not like I’m coming from something great, but after

I’ll bite. Who are these ‘people’ you are lumping me into here?
