I didn’t realize someone filming in landscape mode could STILL do such a bad job filming something.

For the record, I enjoy your car videos - and that Aston looks great

I just read the post you linked, plus the comments on it - where I learned that Tavarish, Matt Farah, and Alex have had at least one extended political conversation on Twitter. Also someone in the comment section calls Alex “his own brand of supercilious, snooty prick” which I think is funny since you’re directing

Not a mustang, but my first light painting from over the winter. 2 stacked exposures... it’s a lot of fun! Props to the photographer that did the mustang, it looks great

So my takeaway is that automation in cars (something partially designed to compensate for our pitiful lack of driver training) really requires a whole new and other set of training to be used safely.

Hood scoop AND a manual (and 160k miles and counting, and dents, and some rust, and sway bar end links that clunk, and a scuffed rear bumper cover and creeping dread that if I ever get in an accident there won’t be any available replacement other than a 3 year newer model of the same car with most likely more miles)

Exactly. I wouldn’t pay $11k for this as the extra benefit of condition and low miles would be wasted on me in the first year. It’s possible it might be worth it to someone else though

Let me put a little perspective on this for everyone saying you can’t find another one for sale anywhere: There are still definitely manual XTs out there, you just have to look in New England, and probably Seattle and Colorado too. In 30 seconds I found 3 on my local craigslist ranging between $4500, $6000 and $7500.

I found 3 manual FXTs for sale on my local craigslist in 30 seconds so they aren’t completely impossible to find... which only further cements your argument. This one looks clean and low mileage, but for what it is I still think it’s too high. That said, someone will buy it

As a rider of many ratty old bikes with hacked up wiring this made me laugh. I could probably ride home using the starter motor on my kz750 if I wanted, there’s certainly no safegaurds to stop me trying

Well ok.... you do you!

So.... where are all the “it’s going to be a Cadillac” people now?

It is if you write computer code

I ride a motorcycle and would tend to agree, except that feels like a choice between bad and worse. I’d be willing to argue that upping enforcement and training to fix the squishy pink things behind the wheel would go a lot further quicker and for less money then saying “let’s just throw a bunch of computers and code

Are energy drink sponsors the new suntan lotion? Yes I’m referencing the Whittington Bros

I see your genuine question and I’ll raise you a genuine answer - there is a huge gulf between semi-autonomous and true full autonomy. There is also a huge gulf between “full autonomy” being tested in limited environments like mostly sunny, dry, and flat areas vs that same software operating somewhere with more

I’ve been working as a software engineer for 9 years now. I’ve worked at 3 different companies and on at least 5 or 6 enterprise level products. Every one has been a jumbled together mess at one level or another - software starting with good intentions and then getting smacked with the reality of deadlines and “I know

Exactly. Even though I live in a place where it rains a lot and there is winter, If I had $5k to spend on a fun vehicle I’d rock this in a heartbeat.
