Well no doubt. My first 2 cars were RWD and they were a blast to drive in the snow. You can still get just as sideways in a FWD, it just takes a little more... dedication

Same here. I think that thing is awesome, but I shudder every time I see the video

Are you starting to slide before pulling the handbrake? If you are going straight and pull the hand brake you’ll most likely continue going straight, regardless of what your PT did in the same scenario.

Can confirm, would be my next car. I love my turbo subaru outback and plan on keeping it until it dies but I’d like something that gets better than 20mpgs but has a manual and is still fun to wring out on back roads as a DD. Toyota reliability on top of that would be great

I never got the annoyance with city driving manuals either despite having owned many of them. Then I got my current Subaru with a grabby stage 2 clutch and I can kind of see it now, it does become a decent amount of work in traffic.

While I laughed at the original post, what you say is the true answer. I’ve owned 3 Subarus now - 2 pre-2006 NAs and my current EJ255. I put a lot of miles on all three and never had to replace the head gaskets. Yes there was a real issue with the EJ253s, but regular maintenance helps a lot at preventing any of the

Here are three totally unrelated head scratching events! DAKAR RALLY

Pretty sure being under the boardwalk at the Jersey Shore in exactly rapey and covered in spent needles, at least it was when I was a kid. Things seemed to have cleaned up a bit last time I was down that way, maybe Sandy washed it out

Hahahahaha! Yes.

Another point I’d like to mention: even a cheap winter tire can be significantly better than no winter tires.

I know people that pay every single year to switch over their tires on their one set of rims, and around me that’s like $100 for 4 tires. Especially considering you still have to store the tires somewhere even if they don’t have rims it really doesn’t save you space either (although I’ve never heard of a shop around

Yup, fins front. That saved me one time

It is!

Nowhere in the article did I see the reason for raising the tanks. Perhaps it could be just for historical sake, but there could be another reason.

Woah... I saw the tractor on the thumbnail and went “hey, I think I’ve seen that before”. Pressed play and heard the announcer’s voice and realized yup, that’s the Washington county fair about a mile from my house

It’s an ‘05, so yeah it’s older. It’s in great shape though considering. It had an engine out service at 100k just before I bought it so new timing belt and minty fresh head gaskets (laugh all you want, I never said it wasn’t a thing). I’m pretty sure it had the turbo replaced before I got it too. Yeah there is some

You got an E92 M3 for $7k? Now I’m intrigued.

Oooh, you poked fun at head gaskets on a Subaru, aren’t you edgy.

You missed the part where I came around on FWD after I learned how to drive better, but that’s OK as I can tell reading retention isn’t really your thing. I’m about 70% sure my next car will be FWD again and after trying all the platforms I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything.

Yeah I think the turbo was already replaced with a stock one before I bought the car, and my mechanic says the shaft play is pretty minimal still. I’m not going to be surprised if it lets go at some point though... it is a modified turbo Subaru after all
