When that government spook came out of the Conspicuous Repair Van and raised his hand toward Lucas, I half-expected the kid to get gunned down right there in the street. Now THAT would have been unfortunate. Nice editing fake-out, there.

Please sign my totally non-creepy petition to cast Amy Seimetz in all of the things ever. Thanks

Mr Peanutbutter's wardrobe was the most 2007-looking 2007 fashion that ever 2007ed. I may or may not have owned several pairs of those faded/frayed skinny jeans he was always wearing.

Well that can't be right, that just looks like a bunch of leftovers from 06 and 05, plus the Soulja Boy. Nice to see I was wrong about Taylor Swift too. Didn't Mika come out that year? Guess he wasn't that big a deal.

I completely tuned out of pop music in 2007. Is this what it sounded like? It was before Katy Perry or Lady Gaga or Taylor Swift, so none of my contemporary reference points were around. Was it all Black Eyed Peas or something?

Just finished episode 5 of s3. This show is seemingly hellbent on outdoing itself with each new episode.

Cinderella (2015) — I've never been a fan of this story, but I don't want to be too harsh on this movie, mainly because Lily James is an absolutely enchanting screen presence, almost reminiscent of a young Kate Winslet. Also it turns out Kenneth Branagh directed it, and I always think it's cool he's still working. So

Voltron: Legendary Defender was a VERY pleasant surprise. My son took to it right away, and the episodes I've watched with him have been refreshingly funny and awesome.

While we're on the subject, I found this terrific article analyzing some of the themes we've been discussing in these threads, and this one scene in particular (warning SPOILERS abound): https://www.theguardian.com…

I'd love to see a (probably impossible) flashback of Nancy hanging out with the boys, doing the things they talked about in the first episode: "She used to be cool, like the time she dressed up as a lady elf." "That was four years ago!" It's also strongly implied Dustin has a crush on her from her first scene, it'd be

Neat bit of foreshadowing here with Nancy fighting with Jonathan just before they encounter the monster: It's the same fight she was having with Barb just before she got attacked. "This isn't you," etc. It highlights this show's theme about the bonds of friendship being tested just before danger strikes.

I also hope we see more of (FUTURE MILD SPOILER) Mr Clarke's hot Asian girlfriend in a future episode.

General question: How come I never noticed all the parallels between Stephen King and Steven Spielberg before this show? I don't even recall them being discussed in the same breath so much until I started reading these reviews. They've always just been THERE. No one thought to overtly link them before. Just one of the

I could totally buy that Hop has slept around with half the single moms in town.

The interview I read with Winona in Time, she said he was never that way towards her at all. Where did you read that?

Joyce and Hopper have amazing chemistry that is rooted not in romantic tension, but in the shared experience of having both lost a child. I love that almost-completely unspoken connection between them.

Mike and Lucas splitting up on bad terms, plus El disappearing right after = genuine heartbreak. How can a show that is merely hitting ultra-predictable story beats as hard as it can still be this affecting? Is it just the performances?

Then she had to move to Detroit, which I hear is due for a resurgence.

The minute he stepped out of the room and the walls started bending I fucking lost it. Viva Toddfoolery!

Watching a (Horse)man's moral compass slowly collapse in real time is almost nauseatingly dread-inducing.
