I can’t wait until this comment section still somehow turns into a circle-jerk about how annoying vegans are lol

I think this is a bit of a stretch. PETA is an organization with a single mission - ethical treatment for animals. It’s not their place to comment on any other subject. There are organizations that work on ethical treatment for prisoners, examining police brutality, poverty, etc. I don’t need PETA to advocate on those

I don’t think it’s fair to point at one person and say, “Well, they have this illness, and they managed to avoid killing anyone, so you can’t possibly say that your illness led you to kill people.” Many mental illnesses exist on a spectrum, with a variety of causes, and one person’s symptoms may not exist in someone

I share this too often, but:

I worry about a politically weaponized ICE becoming an American Stasi. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I think they are authorized to work within 100 miles of borders and shorelines. That covers most major cities and the vast majority of the population.

As we wander, blindly, it seems, into the new Gilded Age.

Referring to the gun in question (or any gun) as “a gun designed to kill Americans” illustrates the difficulty many people have in discussing things like this rationally.

Oh, same. I tormented myself looking at my Insta feed last night, watching people hug and kiss at midnight. A year ago I told myself that I would have someone to kiss at midnight, and of course, I don’t.

actual thing that happened
Guy: I’ll call you
Me: No, you won’t. You’re saying you will, but you won’t.
Guy: No, seriously, I’ll call you.

Exactly! I don’t give half a fuck about another shirtless photo—I love the profile essays, I love kind of getting a primer on someone before I have to decide whether or not to meet them. It saves time, and it can definitely heighten the anticipation.

yes, this is true. And when that day comes, she will take such good care of you my friend.

Does late November count? Because I’ve noticed a fair # of those. And besides, everyone thinks their breeder is “reputable,” just like every gun owner thinks they’re one of the responsible ones, and every drunk driver thinks they’re skilled enough to pull it off. Ultimately, though, all breeders are reckless

I have lost friends over people who have gotten dogs from breeders, particularly ‘breeders’ that are actually puppy mills (‘oh yeah, we’re going to Lancaster to get our puppy! The Amish gave us such a good price for it!’....yeah, you got a puppy mill puppy).

All I can say is that I’ve been married very happily for ten years and your attitude is completely inconsistent with happy long-term relationships. You’re playing the victim and, thus, you’ll always be the victim.

These are not questions suggested to be discussed aloud. These are subconscious thoughts that everyone has when they interact with people. Knowing that people are asking these questions subconsciously gives you a huge advantage when dealing with them in any capacity. I don’t think you read the article very carefully,

Since you’re stuck in the ‘90s era of “Women are SOOOO complex how can men ever stand a chance!?” let me propose it to you this way:

Well, that’s quite an off-putting brand of humor you’ve harnessed there.

That’s true. But, I think the propriety of using that pageant as a forum to discuss objectification is a touch questionable.
