I had the same reaction. My sister and I have been debating the movie’s questions and signs ever since we watched it last week, and while her complaints are a bit more plentiful than mine (she also confessed to having her eyes covered a lot towards the end, meaning she missed some key details), my one preference is

Sure, but the dialogue was a little too much like a Bond villian explaining his master plan. Personally I think an entirely dialogue free scene after *that sound* would have been amazingly powerful in the same way that a long dialogue free stretch is used with the same character earlier in the film.

I loved this film so very much, terrifying, moving & funny in parts. Toni Collette deserves every award going.

Critics can only speak about their own experiences with the movie, man.

It’s not “silly” to feel like this didn’t work as well as it should have. Nor is a negative review “uninformed.” As someone who’s seen the movie, his opinion on the film is more informed than yours is right now.

Great! That doesn’t mean it works to the film’s benefit.

LABO IS COMING

I’m often amazed at the outrage of those sorts at the sheer audacity of game developers to make things that aren’t geared towards the 18-35 set. I recall seeing similar outrage coming about when Skylanders first rolled onto the scene.

Some choices

of Montreal, Skeletal Lamping: An Eluardian Instance/Gallery Piece/Women’s Studies Victim

of Montreal, Hissing Fauna Are You the Destroyer?: A Sentence of Sorts in Kongsvinger/The Past is a Grotesque Animal/Bunny Ain’t No Kind of Rider/Faberge Falls for Shuggie (choose 1-3 or 2-4)

Shabazz Palaces, Black Up:

My love of Cane’s chicken and sauce is more than enough to make up for the fries. But MAN, I wish they’d make their fries better. Even just frying them a little bit longer would make a huge difference.

I grew pretty tired of CS’s defense that they were mixing legitimate film criticisms, continuity errors, etc. with jokes being made by an “asshole critic character.” Those two approaches sound great on their own, but why combine them both in the same video? It just dilutes the effectiveness.

Seriously, no Nickelback? I mean, I get that hating on them is a little cliche

Shame on Johnny Greenwood for having a sense of humour.

Just on a technical level, American Vandal was incredibly well-made. I’d love to know about the work that went into getting the Nana’s Party episode right.

Big Mouth reeks of “what if Family Guy didn’t have to answer to S&P or censors,” so I can’t abide. It also seems to have the 12 year old appeal, which hasn’t been my jam for a couple decades. But sure, I can see why SOMEONE would want to watch it.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed American Vandal, that show was sneaky good. Haven’t tried My Big Mouth yet, but ill breakdown eventually.

This was the one episode that lost me this season. Killing and eating Braff was too much of the wrong kind of ugly for my tastes. It is of course a very silly show where in many ways “real world” consequences don’t apply, but the mains treating cannibalism as just another bit of Hollywoo wackiness rang false to me.
