just think of the worm as being born inside a non-sentient edible supersuit that assembles the baby.

Dog attorney is apparently pulled from Shelock Hound, a fun series with several episodes by Miyazaki! That part is real.
My favorite is the Teller—a unit of unfounded optimism. Named for physicist/jerk Edward Teller in the 1980s, when he made all sort of claims about space-based weapons to gullible President Reagan. One Teller is so large that most daily events (I can cross the street before the light turns red) are measured in pico- or…
multiple stars!
She could be the wife's unmarried sister. That's still a sister-in-law.
From this shot I thought it was from an 80s version of Firefly.
Annie's encounter with Bob unleashed her mutant powers and she was catapulted back in time to the 1970s where she took up roller skating and porn. But somewhere along the line she tripped into a freezer and reappeared 20 years later with her memories jumbled, knowing she wanted to still make movies. She fell in with a…
They never did square those two things did they? Oh wait... Moffatt.
How fitting would it be to use galactic gak as heat shield my terial for spaceship reentry? Just need to keep it in one place.
Must be where Monty Python got the name for Colin "Bomber" Harris.
holy crap that cave is amazing! Thank you for sharing it with us.
Is there any way to grow a crystal that is a single cube? Maybe 5 meters to a side? (He asked for no particular reason?)
Doesn't the plastic wear down with uv lighting, out gassing and crumbling?
Who Killed Roger Rabbit, the book was completely reimagined in the film. I loved the film, but there was a lot of charm in the book. Judge Doom feels lame compared to the original murderer, and casting a popular modern animated character in the original murderer's role is kind of fun and creepy. (I'm being pointedly…
Gracenote and the whole music metadata labeling system. Anybody can slap info onto any CD any get every track name, disk number, composer and genre wrong. And don't get me started on Audiobook file names. Every disk has a different album name, is the author the composer, or what?
This was the most obvious miss from the article. It set up the LSH, and allowed for all the great chances for him to kill Hitler. (Or was that the other time traveler?)
<RANT> For FSM's sake can we dispense with the "you don't get Europa" comments? Every single fracking time there's exciting science about the place, 20 ninniehammers race to be the first to post. Then they all recommend each other and push themselves to the top. You saw a movie once! Whoop-de-doo. So did everyone else…
I mentioned this thread to my daughter, to show off how clever I was. In a typical teenage way she rolled her eyes and said, "if they're so smart, they should be called Octopeople." I had to bow to the logic of that craziest English plural.
I don't disagree with the word being English, I just can't believe that there wasn't a Greek or Latin name for them. I wonder what they called octopusssums. (My nomination for a plural.)
I'm reminded of Scott McCloud's amazing comic series, Zot: a parallel world to ours where things are just that much better. He never explained how that happened, but there were hints that there was some grand manipulation going on. But the cityscapes remind he a lot of McCloud.
