The Ghibli film was fine, but not sensational. Directed by Goro Miyazaki, Hayao's son. Some decent animation, and some nice scenes here and there. Worth a watch. The SciFi series was a complete betrayal and unwatchable. LeGuin repudiated it. But because SciFi were such complete dicks, they kept the Ghibli film out of

Kingdom Come Flash, I think.

I haven't been much impressed with Zack Whedon's comic work so far. I hope he's improving. I wish they could get someone like JMS on such a beloved 'verse.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought our sun will become a white dwarf. After it expands and burns everything out to Jupiter. I suppose by the time our sun gets to be a white dwarf the sentient neo cockroaches who run Earth might be able to engineer the movement of the the inner planets out of the way, and then back

Not stable as the sun drifts through space.

What in high holy heck is going on in this station?

At least they've got the gravity generators running on this station. Nothing like a good sense of "down" at the bottom oft he picture.

The northwest point of Oahu is thought to be the jumping-off place for ghosts. You can hike out there, but it is unpaved. My understanding is that there is a remote place like that on each island, and you don't want yo spend the night there. Of course it's hard to know what's mixed up with tourist BS.

I'd love to image there might have been hot-spot islands on the far side of the planet. Animals would wash ashore and evolve into forms not found anywhere on Pangaea. And we can call this land "This Land."

Rod Serling is the first person in the fast pan shot.

Also the giant raven is the size of a roc, from the sinbad stories. Not sure if it was in 7th voyage, but it was certainly in the Popeye Sinbad cartoon.

My brain read the headline sideways. I thought it was confirming another Howard the Duck! Phew. False alarm.

Years ago, my dad helped his friends laid claim to the Minerva Reefs in the South Pacific. No one owned them at the time, and they had documentation from the UN showing their unclaimed status. They brought in a dredger to bring up sand and make land, which would hold an office and become a tax haven. They claimed it

I love this book. If the Baroque cycle is treating historical fiction like science fiction, Anathem takes the hardest SF and writes it like a modern-day road trip with a bunch of math nerds.

I was going to go for Pynchon. Everything he does is beyond genre. Even calling his work Psychadelia is too restrictive.

I like to point people towards the video in system preferences. I point out its like putting your fingers on a piece of paper. You pull the paper down or push the paper up. Works great on trackpads. With that said, It still feels odd with a scroll mouse. But when I switch back, it feels odder.

This is the big one for me, too. Yes, I could get rich and avoid the the years of struggle trying to find the right girl. I'd know where she lives and set about romancing her earlier. I could save a couple of other friends who died foolishly. help my parents. But I love my children more than I thought possible. This

After years at SFSU I also noticed that smell. I think it's part of Lake Merced. I don't get it in the rest of the permafrost belt. Go to Stern Grove after the rain. Lovely.

Adam Warlock should have stayed in that category. His return was shameful.

We were just at UC San Diego yesterday, and couldn't help but notice the little blue house. We were told it was past of the art on campus series, and that for a few hours a week you can go into the house. The guide said everything inside is level, except the chandelier which hangs from the ceiling.
