In addition to street view, it sounds like satellite view will not be available either. It pissed me off when foursquare went away from google maps because they lost satellite view, and this is no different.

Knowing the encryption method won't make it any easier to decrypt if you don't know the key. The linkedin passwords were not decrypted. The ones that were cracked were brute-forced or guessed. The problem was that they were leaked in the first place, and the encryption method doesn't have anything to do with that.

They have now forced everyone to log in using facebook, twitter, or google, which means they aren't storing passwords at all anymore.
