that Acolyte clip sounds pretty cool! if only it were available in wavelengths visible to humans

Lockwood and Co. is leagues better than several entries on this list (Wednesday especially)

My bad! I was *close*

Jar Jar wasn’t trying to make “how wude” a thing, it had been a thing since 1987, when it was the Olsen Twins’ catchphrase on Full House

No, they’re saying that the problems Germain has with the movie are not problems for them.

I’m also middling on Capaldi’s run so after 10 years or so in the wilderness, “return to form” is a pretty hopeful sign

If this is bait, it’s nigh-irresistible

Man Barbarella was just an “of its time” production I cannot imagine any way in which a remake would ever be worth the time

The TV shows are way too concerned with fleshing out and addressing prequel-era material (Filoni’s whole bag is redeeming the prequel era) to really redeem the sequel series.

It’s an interesting comparison, but it really puts into relief the fact that Phantom Menace never got its Wrath of Khan follow-up. Lucas fumbled the ball on the first film, and just kept fumbling it.

“Return to form, with enhancements from a massive infusion of cash” is probably about where I’m landing. I don’t think either episode was particularly great (I didn’t especially like a lot of the RTD era on the first g0-round) but it’s leagues better than what Chibnall was serving up. If it’s froth, at least it’s

Space Babies is your basic mid-season RTD story, with some additional episode 1 infodumping for D+ subscribers. Doesn’t ask very much of the viewer, but lets you know the show hasn’t changed too much from post-2005 Who. The Devil’s Chord is a balls-to-the-wall “this is what the show is like now in 2024" ride.

RTD setting up an intriguing premise and then totally biffing the landing is a feature not a bug

Doctor Who is the softest possible sci fi and always has been lol

well I guess the important thing is to promote the interview by linking to it and making claims to be concerned for this woman's mental health

The only one this is arguably true of is Zoe Saldana, I think? Everyone else is more or less where they were: Pine has a pocketful of starring roles in underperforming movies from the last 8 years or so (and apparently directed one of the worst movies ever), Quinto is still largely a TV guy, Pegg and Urban are

Almost certainly to avoid blowback from trans-obsessed American conservatives

Fantastic Four had a big splashy casting announcement only a couple of months ago, and I believe has begun production in some way. Blade has been “troubled” and talked about since uh... Eternals was filming; if it gets made at all, I'll be shocked

it’s a toddler-accessible cartoon, of course it was never going to be as “bad” as the ban made it seem

Berlanti probably has the exact quantity of foot-on-the-gas-goofy to make this work tbh
