Release their source code? That would be pretty cool, especially for prospective game designers. Personally, I only take so much pleasure from scanning source code, but I like when it's an option.

My brother and I once bought a Dreamcast from a friend of his, ages ago. Over half of the games we got with it were just burnt onto CD-ROMs. Is it easy to bypass the copy protection? I'd guess "Yes".

I'm guessing modern web design has a lot to do with the rise of tablets and smartphones. Not that I'm against mobile-friendly web pages on principle, but I do 90% of my browsing on a PC and it's not a trend I'm fond of.

I saw Thor: The Dark World last Monday; I thought it was kind of fun, but not a standout film. I liked the parts with Loki and Asgard and I like that they keep the tone light, but I was lukewarm on the romance and the main conflict felt particularly ancillary. The way Thor starts the movie trying to fix something Loki

I remember a couple from high school English, although it may have been called Language Arts at the time. There was Brazil, which I like better now than I did then. We also watched Roman Polanski's Macbeth; I missed the parts in the middle with the naked witches, but the fight at the end was kind of funny.

I remember feeling confused and ambivalent at the ending. After reading a bunch of comments, it seems like that might have been the Coen brothers' intention? The ambiguity, at least. I definitely felt bad for the guy, though.

Oh, I almost forgot that it was in threeeee-deeeee! There was at least one scene where it felt a bit obnoxious, but other than that it wasn't a bother. I still would've chosen a 2D showing if that had been an option, though.

Last week I saw Gravity. So good! I was wondering how they were going to fill 90 minutes, but they managed to keep things pretty brisk. Oddly enough, it was the first scene, before the whole disaster, that made me the most uneasy, but it was pretty tense throughout.

For some reason, I'm imagining Long and Hodgman in a "Goofus & Gallant" type setup.

We tried writing directions on the palm of his hand, but that doesn't seem to help.

Well, that's heartening. I might see why you don't like the middle of the third season; it comes right off of "Exodus", but ends up in a sort-of holding pattern with a number of one-off episodes. Or maybe you don't think the episodes are all that good, I can't say.

Apparently I was born three years too early to be part of the worst (period) generation (period) ever (period). Go me?

My friends and I are watching Battlestar Galactica right now. We've almost finished the third season and I've loved it so far. I've heard mixed things about the fourth season, though, so no guarantees?

Today, I watched The Informant. For some reason, I tend to think of it as a Coen brothers movie, even though they had nothing to do with it. Regardless, it was an interesting movie; I was expecting something a little more farcical, like The Hudsucker Proxy, and I didn't expect the last third of the movie to go the way

*Thwack*

Watched a few movies this weekend.

And, of course, in the race to avoid settling for "good", big studio projects end up following the leader in a race to the bottom. Next thing you know, every trailer BWAAAMPS, any movie that's expected to be a blockbuster is saturated in teal-and-orange, and any video game franchise with a budget becomes a shooter.

Are marketers really this shameless?

I agree that the Coen brothers have a moralistic trend in their movies as far back as Blood Simple, but they've hardly been absolute. I think they just like to show off the general absurdity of life, as well; lots of things go wrong for their characters, but it's often a matter of chance as anything else.

I appreciate the recommendation, but my gaming backlog doesn't go quite that far back. The ones I had in mind are much more recent; other than Shadows of the Damned, I have Lollipop Chainsaw and Killer Is Dead. The reviews on all three have been mixed, but I like him enough after Killer 7 and No More Heroes that I'm
