Try a Russian Blue. They are very common in shelters and have very little shedding and dander. A lot of people I know who are allergic to cats are fine with Russian Blues.

I am a woman, my dad was not super there for my childhood (but he was for my brother’s). He is not the world’s best Dad TBH. A big factor is also that he has 8 children so the middles (i.e. me and my brother) get a little lost in the mix.
