Can’t say I’ve seen those paintings but that planet sounds a lot like Raxus Prime, the junk yard planet. If it was that would have been far more interesting given the planet’s history and they could have tied bits of TFA back into prequel legends/lore fleshing out the story. That said I’m kinda glad they didn’t…
Oh, they did go bankrupt... but the story of how they got the extras cash (or credits) they needed involves things like corrupt government officials, banking clans, and trade treaties which as history has shown (with the prequel trilogy) isn’t what the greater % of Star Wars fans are interested in and what to see.
