As does democracy, people who truly care rarely can get far in politics anymore.

Zuck was a sociopath from the jump, but point taken.
And what I find even more annoying is the idea that this is anything cool and novel - that these idiots are innovators disrupting traditional business models, when working your employees to death while paying them as little as possible is more or less how things worked in the 19th century.
The point people seem to miss is that in the “classic model” of early stage startups (such as there is one), the people working 80-hour weeks have equity stakes in the business as part of their employment package. When that’s the case, you’re a part owner, so it’s not unreasonable to expect that you’ll do what is…
Sure! But let’s not pretend that being a sociopathic asshole isn’t a feature of capitalism, because it totally is.
You need to be at least somewhat cold to be able to manage a large company of any kind.
I disagree. As children we’re all taught there are consequences for our behavior, but the richer you get, the less that is the case. You can act however you want and face almost no consequences.
Similarly, I have also “boycotted” eating feces and pouring bleach into my eyes. I'm quite the activist!
Breakerbaker makes me miss tomato.
To think, until now I only avoided Razer products because they are overpriced glossy garbage. Now I have Reason #2!
It’s not defeatism
I’m not saying you’re wrong, but how is that not defeatism?
We’ve known from the start that this would die in the senate. Nothing has changed. It will still die in the senate.
What you’re saying is that this is purely about catharsis for those of us who do not like Trump, specifically the catharsis of knowing it will rankle Trump that he was impeached by the House.
There are still some advantages here.
BreakerBaker just wants attention, not to make an intelligent contribution.
For saying you’re not defeatist, you’re not really making any suggestions for either recourse (effective or not) or hope, and you’re sure making a lot of noise about it in this thread. Are you sure this is a productive thing to do? I’m not in disagreement with your assessment, but your approach sounds like you…
I agree. Having that asterisk and needing to explain it away, compared to never having the asterisk is something. It’s not like televising Trump’s arrest and imprisonment of course but it is something.
Eh, I don’t think it’s an entire wash. The thing to remember is that there’s a flip side to Trump’s shallow affect and facile image-consciousness: he’s got a shallow affect and is concerned only with facile image-consciousness. And as such, having an asterisk next to his name, which he will have for the rest of his…
I mean it started with Kamala Harris repeatedly referring to herself as California’s “top cop” if you want to be a stickler.
