I have to say that I know of a similar situation - where the person I know just straight up took the dog and did not back down. She is a dog-walker/runs a business of dog walkers/carers and said dog was being neglected as this one seems to be and that was just was not going to fly.

While I so whole heartedly agree with the essence of your point - some people do break up for thoroughly (ego)/heartbreaking reasons - whereas these two possibly just outgrew/got bored of schtupping each other.

I have to say, on the strength of the Best Song Ever video, Louis’ Tom Cruise impersonation is quite the stand-out. Based on no prior knowledge nor assumption of him, I’m still shocked.
