That makes sense, I’m just speaking based on what my friends told me while skiing.  I never used one of the apps but I have been clocked with a speed gun and surprised at my actual speed. A friend’s son hit 95 pre-public skiing on DH race skis. If I did that you’d see my track by the brown stain in the snow.....

I don’t know specifically about the GPS issue but I can say the apps are mostly bogus. I have skied with people who reported 75+ mph records by app and then came out for a day with a calibrated speed gun where they were shocked at their speeds coming in at 55-60mph.
