I do agree with that and it definitely was questionable that they portrayed it at all, but in terms of decisions regarding Barbara and the happiness of story outcomes, her death in Arkham Knight was a hallucination. She was never even in that room and is actually fine.

It's not that it's repetetive, it's just tbat it's MIDI music.  Every DQ game has had MIDI music, including VIII technically.  The Orchestral version was only done for the International release.
