I think you have a very reasonable viewpoint! Let me put it this way, though. Final Fantasy III when it first came out on Android was around 15 dollars. People thought the price was insane, but I could go to Gamestop and buy the EXACT same game (actually a worse version of it, graphically) brand new for 19.99 plus tax.

That is not the bad kind of mobile game. That’s just letting you play the start of a game for free.

Because it isn’t a MOD. It’s a PATCH. That’s the difference. Even if the patch has to be acquired illicitly, you’re still restoring the content that the developers of the game in question made. It’s NOT the same as a third party creating their OWN content and modifying the game. Pretending those aren’t the same…

That’s a false equivalent though because those games weren’t originally made that way and Nekopara WAS. They edited OUT the content that’s in every other version of the game on Steam. If Skyrim or The Witcher 3 had content edited out of it that was easily patched back in, then it would be the same thing.
