Eh, even though it came out about 18 months after the console launch, Final Fantasy VII was arguably the PS1’s first real killer app.

I assume this isn’t on the list because it’s a pretty old game by now, but the first Ni no Kuni game, Wrath of the White Witch is by far my favorite Pokemon alternative.
