Wow, so much wasted real estate. Really so much space for such

a small amount of text.

What is this? A Fantasy for ants? 🗡️🐜

Nobody has misappropriated the word. It has been used in various ways since the 1500's. People were robbing each other blind in the 1800's... Not to mention Homer’s Odyssey.

I don’t know if that’s...disparagement? Like, it’s a reference to a physical state. If the ref was, indeed, blind (somehow), and they heard that and said yes, then I would bet the person making the accusation would feel stupid and it would logically make sense. Same thing with someone being akin to a bat. There’s no…

What the fuck?

I mean they aren't really the same though. Blind Playthrough implies a large lack of knowledge (like "going in blind") where as first could mean you have read through info on the game, or played it before; and that this is just your first attempt to play through the full game.

“‘Blind playthrough’ or ‘going in blind’ can easily be replaced by saying ‘No spoilers playthrough’ or ‘Undiscovered’ or ‘first’ (if it is your first). A blind playthrough would be to turn your monitor off, and that’s not what most mean,” said Spohn. “Just as we used to say ‘gay’ when something was bad, using…

I’m offended on behalf of the English language.

I didn’t claim any of them are the most important.  I’m telling “them” to stop trying to consider the “sightless” definition as the most important.  But feel free to try again.

A new proper name should be “Virgin Playthrough,” though I guess way more Twitch users with too much time on their hands would be offended.

A first playthrough means you anything as long as it is your first time playing. You could use a guide. Have help from other players. Already know the story before going into it. And more.

I’m for language being altered to be more inclusive/not offending people but..this just seems a little silly.

Blind playthrough, to me, is far more descriptive. Sure I can show you my first playthrough of Marvel’s Spiderman after having read all about the reviews etc. That isn’t “going in blind”

As Spohn said, “first playthrough” is just as descriptive of the category, if not more.

Isn’t “blind” as in, “sight unseen” or “preventing sight” already a widely used, non-disparaging term the world over? I’ve never once seen any reference to “blind” as a means to disparage the differently abled.

I’m all for being more inclusive, but this really seems like overkill. He compared it to not using “gay” to mean “bad”, but the entire reason it was used in that context was BECAUSE of discrimination. “Blind” is a word that has multiple meanings, none of which are due to discrimination about people who can’t see. And…

It’s a visually-divergent fold.

Newspeak strikes again.

Great, now my plan to have a blindfolded run theme channel is ruined!

PC culture at its worst... Should hunters change the name of their hideouts too? Stop being so sensitive about everything. There are 15 definitions of the word “blind” here.  Quit pretending like yours is the only and/or most important one.
