Ethan, everything you described as the flaws of the game, particularly how the New York is more of a pretty surface and how (possibly related) there’s nothing for Peter Parker to do, seems to be the fault not of Insomniac but of the current console generation.

Take my money.

Marvel themselves only turned Mary Jane into Lois Lane in the “Ultimate Spider-Man” cartoon. She’s still herself in the main continuity, plus her super-powered version in “Renew Your Vows”. As to why they’ve done it in this game, because that was the best way the could come up with for keeping her close to the action.

Persona, but with superheroes, would be my game of the decade.

I think a game about being a superhero, but having to pay rent/maintain relationships would be awesome. Throw in some moral choices (like do you return both bags of stolen money?) and baby, you’ve got a stew going.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to sell my PS4.

Spiderman all the way for me this weekend. I do want DQ11 but since they said it will come to Switch, I’ll wait until they say otherwise. And if my friend buys me Forsaken, then I might go back to Destiny haha

I’ve never played a Dragon Quest. I saw Tim’s review/love letter.

I ain’t even sorry.

“It was super effective, LOL” - Spidey

I hate you for making me want this, Bob The Rock “Villian to at Least One Person”

Given the image he created, I’m going to say he’s taking his title very, very seriously.

Same here. I spent a crapload of time in the multiplayer part and was getting fairly good at it, but again when they walked away from it, I removed the disk from the PS4, stuck it in the case and put it back on the shelf. And that’s where it will stay.

Andromeda had it’s problems that likely wouldn’t have been solved by more time in the oven, but it wasn’t a terrible game. What killed it for me is that Bioware did maybe one, at most two patches and then washed their hands of it, even the multiplayer portion which had loot boxes that I know folks were spending money

I would argue Dragon Age Origins was their last classic.  Only $20 on gog, and easily worth that.

I also hope I am wrong.

Look, it’s simple:

The vibe I keep getting here is of a slightly deeper/more narratively complex Destiny.

It absolutely reeks of follower syndrome, and it’d be really, really nice if Bioware either forged new pathways with new IP, or gave fans games they want (such as a Mass Effect title that isn’t Andromeda—or a new Dragon Age).
