Yep, we’re waiting. We had this big plan to hand down my wife’s Outback to our new-driver son and she was going to get a Telluride. Considering I’ve only seen 2 new-model Tellurides driving around since their release and have read plenty of stories of bad deals at the dealership, he’ll have to share with us until

I keep hoping Subaru takes another stab at the small truck market. The Baja, unfortunately, had a nearly useless bed and was too small for most truck users’ needs. I think if they’d make one based off the Ascent, it might have the potential to be a real winner in the currently-growing market.

Predated the bmw x6 and others like it (mb glc) etc. by a long way.

Four door truck with a short bed. These things were laughed at back in the day as useless. Now this is every truck.

Thinking about early-to-mid ‘90s Mitsubishi never ceases to make me sad.

Citroen DS

Hate to say it, but:

I wonder how many of these you’ll get.

1955!

Two years before Azteks were fouling the left lane of America’s highways, Toyota was already defining the next 20+ years with the RX. The shape, layout and features set the template for all the crossovers that followed.

Citroen Traction Avant. Introduced in 1934, it had:

The whole group of boxy wagon/hatchbacks from the 80s and 90s that predated the cuv crossover craze.

The Jensen FF. You know how the Audi Quattro was something of a revolution as an awd sports car? This was 14 years earlier. Hell it was the first AWD passenger car. Ever. The kind of thing pretty much everyone offers. If only Jensen would have survived to run Group B...

The Desoto Airflow, built back when aero didn’t matter and things looked like this:

NSU Ro80

I swear, first time I saw the new Kia logo I thought it was the Nine Inch Nails logo. I was like, that guy sure likes Nine Inch Nails.

The Ford E Series is even older (E Series goes back to 1992 with only relatively minor updates vs 1996 for the Express) and is surprisingly STILL available. But hey, you can now get it with the 7.3L Godzilla engine, so that is honestly really cool even if you can only now get the van in cutaway form now.

What’s the oldest looking new car on sale in America?

I’m at a point where it’s hard to accept “old” and “bad” as synonymous. The Q50 drives decent, and it’s one of the few vehicles in its class I’d feel comfortable buying rather than leasing. If its shortcomings are outdated tech, I’ll live.

We are absolutely fucked. The pandemic has shown how unwilling and selfish people are. I feel sad for anyone with kids cause those children get to watch the earth die. It will come back eventually but we humans are shot. I will keep driving my old ass turbo car and watch the world burn. I try to recycle and shit but I
