I’m another trans person (been out for only 11 years, but that’s still a lot more than all these young whippersnappers these days), and I wholeheartedly cosign your statement.

True, so many wannabe-eugenicists.

Gods save us from feeble-minded reactionaries who assume that their experience is emblematic of the whole.

Yuuuuup!

They threw all that in just as a way to muddy the waters for the real things, like the banning puberty blockers. That’s what they’re really after at this point.

Well you know, mediocrity is so much easier to swallow when you know there’s someone you *definitely, categorically* better than.

Honestly, I think that most liberals are happy to have trans folks in sports unless we win. Especially if their children are also in the sport. It’s the athletic equivalent of NIMBY.

Yup! I’ve already seen hot takes online about “Hey maybe the way to get our big-ticket legislation passed is by letting the GOP have some big-ticket item in return”, which:

GOP is against any institution, law, or principle that cannot be bent to their own desire for supremacy and deference.

This is also not purely a Republican/red state/conservative thing. TERFs, eco-warriors, fringe racial advocacy groups-basically every demographic has a subset that said, “what if this, but also I hate trans people?”

There’s a sizeable number of people who would rather that kids be dead than they be trans. That is how deep the hatred of trans folks is in our society. Don’t let people distract you with sports or locker rooms or whatever, that’s the appetizer and this sort of thing is the first course. If we don’t put a stop to this

From the people who call Ohio the “Midwest”.

Having grown up in the Bay Area and now living in the Central Valley, yeah. At best, this would be considered “Central California”, but realistically if you call anything north of the line between Carmel and Yosemite or so “Southern California”, you’re gonna get weird looks.

That’s a wild thing to claim. Per the article, “90 percent of LGBTQ+ youth in South Dakota are diagnosed with anxiety or depression”.

You didn’t explicitly say anything but both-sidesing and implying that trans/GNC people experience anxiety and depression as a result of being out are both really really suspicious.

Yup, exactly. If we’re talking about pro sports? Sure, let’s really lean into the science and all that, but this is kids.

You referred to them as “biological men”. And apparently ignored the bulk of the article, which included such complexities as:

You’re just showing your ignorance on this issue, by totally ignoring or perhaps being ignorant of the effects of hormones on the body. Trans people in sports is a hugely complex area with a lot of open questions that have not been conclusively answered yet, and only the ignorant or the disingenuous would think that

What science? Because I don’t see any here. And as I said, there is a history of various people who are anti-trans teaming up together to knock trans folks down. You might ignore that aspect, but it’s kind of central to what I said. The mistake that you’re making is that you seem incapable of recognizing that concept.
