I’m trans, you dolt. And I never attributed that statement to you. But there are others in this comment section who are saying that, and your comment either unintentionally or intentionally left quite a bit of gray area for that kind of implication. Not every person who disagrees with you is anti-trans or an attack on…
The fact that you’re referring to a hypothetical trans woman as “some dude” kind of undercuts the idea that you are a dispassionate advocate for fairness, champ.
Hey now, that’s a totally unfair characterization! It’s not just Republicans, it’s also TERFs and other social conservatives masquerading as radicals.
It’s important to note that the lead on that study said that two years was probably adequate. There’s a huge difference between maybe the current one-year waiting period isn’t long enough” and “trans women retain an edge forever”.
Yeah “science” doesn’t really say that, but go off. At best, the science has said that trans women retain a certain amount of benefit for a few years after starting hormone therapy. Only in certain cases has it been argued that that benefit is permanent.
Trans women are biological.
JPlum is using TERF terminology (like “TRAs”) as well as TERF talking points. Why is politeness necessary? When dealing with someone who is clearly advocating for disenfranchising trans people?
Hmmmmmm
Oh it’s just a lot of flat empty nothing. And the way my drive was planned, I actually spent the night in Twin Falls, as well, so I had plenty of time there. Nothing particularly awful about the place, it’s just very purgatorial as a road trip interlude.
My current goal is getting back out to Glaciers, although I gotta convince some friends to go along too. That area is absolutely gorgeous, both the US side and the Waterton Lakes Park in Canada. The only problem, from my point of view, is that driving there from where I live means spending time in southern Idaho.
Make sure you aren’t adding visual clutter by adding books, because otherwise you’ll fall afoul of one of the other “tips” here. Not sure how to make an uncluttered bookshelf, unless you choose your books based solely on their aesthetical conformity, but apparently that’s what is necessary!
One of the joys of living in the western half of this great nation is seeing a huge amount of media treat the northeast as, effectively, the only “America” worth discussing. “Best restaurant” lists that don’t have any places west of the Mississippi, national news networks that casually treat us to three second’s…
Absolutely. It cuts a lot deeper when the person who is doing the cutting is someone who should know your struggles.
Oh, I certainly don’t disagree. I think my issue was mostly around the fact that she seemed to be commenting on the trans stuff, while not being a part of the community. If she’s lesbian or bi or pan or whatever other form of queer sexuality, then it’s certainly in her lane to talk about DC’s comments on that subject.
*If* she isn’t trans and *if* she holds actual shitty views about trans people and *if* this whole thing isn’t just “clueless celebrity puts their foot in it again”, then we probably don’t need to create a whole acronym for it. She would either be a basic-boring transphobe, or (depending on her other beliefs around…
I read this article and one thing stood out to me: it never actually mentions if she is trans. Like, being under the queer umbrella is cool and all, but if you aren’t trans, maybe you shouldn’t be commenting on whether DC’s jokes are just something that makes people “uncomfortable”, or something more.
In-N-Out too, where available.
And then in NorCal you omit the “the”. So in your example, it would be “You’re gonna wanna take 80 to 680 but avoid getting off in Richmond”.
Those tweets you quoted are, unfortunately, the long road to the same transphobia. She’s advocating that we do away with gender as a legal category, and replace it with (her definition of) biological sex. Presumably, this substitution will allow her and others with her belief systems to argue more effectively in favor…
