I have played nearly all major MMOs from sub games to free to play and I can tell you that the free to play games, even the best of them, don't even come close to FFXIV. Games don't go free to play because its the best option for the game. In fact free to play harms the game because the inconsistent income (you could

Unless its a huge sale, or you want to play on the PS3 for a bit, you are better off waiting for the PS4 version and save some bandwidth.

Then get the digital version for $30.

Once one character reaches the free cap in wow you are done. Your entire account can no longer be free, ever.

I think you have an issue with your network connection, as latency has to do with your network connection, and has nothing to do with the power of the system its running on. As both a PS3 and PC player I notice zero different "lag-wise" between the two, and in fact constantly have people in my parties that are PC

I play on the PS3 and the PC through most of end game (no coil yet) and there is zero lag difference between the two. The only downside of the PS3 is slightly slower loading times for cutscenes and poor draw distance/culling. Lag is all about the network latency. This wont change no matter what hardware you use.

You are inferring too much from my replies. I simply said that not being into a certain genre of game, does not mean that you oblivious to major game releases in that genre.

No we have definitely not reached any kind of limit at all. This is the amazing benefit of consoles. Developers have years to tweak code to a specific platform and squeeze every drop out of it. Games will get better on both platforms over time, but in general, the PS4 will always have a lead because they are nearly

Again I had zero issues even in the cutscenes, but I didn't play it until (after) the additional ending content was added, so it could be as simple as it being patched later in its life-cycle to fix the issues, or it could have been the PS3 model (both of mine are the slim versions), but I had no lag or framerate

The PS4 has 1152 shader cores vs Xbox One 768 shader cores. Right out of the gate, with no optimization, the PS4, all things being equal code-wise, will perform better, its just in the hardware. Then we have the PS4 with dramatically faster memory than the Xbox One, so it will get benefits here (until) the devs

We must have played different Mass Effect 3's on the PS3, because I had zero frame rate issues playing through the game on the hardest difficulty level and playing it enough to get a platinum at least.

Isn't the point of the PC Master Race that you can simply get a better graphics card and thats all it takes to make your games look better? Otherwise, if you cap out so quickly that you need an HD version to compete with the consoles HD version, that is only a year later, then what really is the point of the "PC

VGSOH was actually one of the biggest MMO releases, akin maybe not to Halo or Call of Duty, but definitely in the Mass Effect range of major releases. It was pretty huge. Its not shutting down because it wasn't great, its shutting down because the developers had to release a couple years early. They ran out of

It was great, it had a good deal of creative additions to the MMO world but it was worse than the original launch of FFXIV as far as performance and bugs went. And compared to the modern MMO's now (like FFXIV:ARR) its pretty visually dated.

Yet I am a gamer that isn't into FPS, or any number of game genres, but I could rattle off a list of a great many titles in many different areas. Just because you are not a fan of a genre of game/movie/music/book/cereal doesn't mean that you live under a rock.

The PS4 has second screen via tablet and vita and the Xbox one has it via tablet, so devs can still do that.

Two reasons:

I couldn't agree more. I think it's cute that PC gamers think that their gameplay experience is superior to consoles in the same way I think its cute when my 8 year old talks about science.

This is only an issue for the minority 'elite' PC gaming community that feels they need to run the latests games in 4k with max settings. For everyone else, 5-7 years between upgrades is just fine. Of course you may have to turn the game down a bit from extreme maximum, but honestly I leave all the settings at medium

There is no reason that a well built gaming machine can't easily last 5+ years. You are assuming that the target audience wants to have the max settings on the latest first person shooter. My gaming rig (haha) has lasted for many years and still plays all the games I want it to. I can probably get a few more years out
