If I’m being honest, my first thoughts are of these and other boring boxy cars like the Chevy Celebrity. The Corvette is always the first “exciting” car that comes to mind (I think because of Mary Lou Retton and McDonald’s). Kit is a close second.

I think disappointment is probably what Tom and Rita discuss when Chet’s not around, but I think that they’re probably the sort of parents who’ve given Chet an over-the-top level of encouragement his whole life regardless of how fucked up he’s acting.
