I have similar feelings about the 2016 presidential election.

Yeah. There’s definitely a side of me that wanted her to join up with Kylo, but he was pretty clear that joining up with him meant starting a two-person galactic dictatorship. Not exactly “breaking the wheel.”

First off, fuck that headline. Saying “fuck you” to the guy who created the franchise and the guy who worked to bring it back is incredibly rude and ungrateful.

They do only have that one song. It’s just that they’ve filled about 50 albums with it.

Not for me. That vastness is the problem. I take one look in a comic shop and “nope” the hell out. I’m like “bitch, I have a job”.

I love me some avant-garde, as my past posts gushing about The Residents have shown, but something about Zappa just bugs me. The Residents can be juvenile and silly as well, but the difference to me is that they put heart into their music. Even when messing with listeners and taunting the industry’s sacred cows, it

Alternating current claims another life. When will people learn that direct current is the only safe means of powering their homes?

Having them turn out to be the Justice Lords would be the greatest damn thing they could ever do, which sadly is why it’ll never happen.

I’ve just accepted that all fan bases (especially those of TV series) are terrible. I can’t let it affect me, because if I do I’m prioritizing the social association over the art.

He’s like Bay in that he has actual talent but no idea what to actually do with it.

I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD SEE SOMEONE COMPLAINING ABOUT A LONG SENTENCE AT THE AV CLUB.

I would usually be OK with an average blockbuster. But this is the Justice League. This should be an watershed moment for comicbook films. It should be an event.

Exactly. It felt like Synder was saying ‘saving cats from trees is “gay,” you know what’s cool? Branding rapists so they’re killed in prison! Fuck you, Jimmy Olsen, you’re dead! Check out ripped Alfred, bro! EXTREME!’

The fanboys getting mad at the reviewers is so misplaced. The people we/they should be mad at is Warner Brothers. How in the fuck can they not get this right?

Whaaaaaaat? Dr. Strange was not mediocre.

That’s a very good point and to the general masses he would only be known for his catch phrase which isn’t the point of the character on the show. Again I can see the hate for the character.

Its obviously not all black and white but I think one issue with the argument that Apu episodes generally use Apu’s characterization to highlight the other characters prejudice argument is that The Simpsons is a TV show. Most people aren’t obsessively watching every episode, or have watched entire seasons at a time or

Oh yes, very much so. Same thing we see now with Apu but that was like so much worse. So many things people think are innocent at the time are really such mean stereotypes than can lead to bullying of people.

I really think historical dramas don't need hooks. If I want to see a love story, I can 1) see a completely fictional one unrelated to any real events or 2) see a historical movie about actual existing lovers (maybe with one or both of them being famous artists, writers, scientists, whatever). But major events are

Because it was the standard "Major historical event was only tragic because a pair of lovers was affected" Hollywood nonsense. See also Pearl Harbor.
