You're overthinking it, Mr. Winkle. This is just a simple case of an album that was released a little early for its "moment" that was eventually discovered by the people who would have loved it in the first place. So Christgau and the Rolling Stone didn't get it. So what?

I'm with you on the sentiment, though I have to add that when I saw them on that tour they played quite a few of the songs too damn fast. "Song Against Sex" was basically grooveless, which is hard to imagine.

Oh, and this kid might be hilarious, but I hate his hair.

The older I get the more bored I get with these generational titles. They seem to be of value to marketers more than anyone else.

I wonder if the different Doctor Whos could be convinced to fight each other.

Trailer looks great.

Now, I ain't no student of copyright law. Before I talk, I should read a book. But there's one thing I do know. There's a lot of room for drinks with the word Monster in them.

I'll say this, the trailer was underwhelming but the cast still comes across pretty likable, which counts for a lot in an ensemble comedy. Going by that, my concern is more that the writing might suck and that they can't find a way to elevate it. But I still plan to see it, unless it's just a total critical bomb.

Is that really the split, though? I haven't seen a lot of MRA types on this discussion, yet. (Though, in fairness, I'll bet the YouTube comments under the video are just a delight…)

Hello, how are you, I know you, I knew you
I think I can remember your name

Yeah, it was jarring, but I thought it still worked because she was still funny in those parts. It's one of those movies where the plot is so implausible and secondary that just going with what's funny is always going to be the right choice. Call it the Marx Bros rule.

I've found the AV Club's coverage of this movie slightly confusing. At first, they were making fun of the whole project, pointing out the needlessness rebooting Ghostbusters and laughing at comments from the director that suggested it might be more horror than comedy. Now, though, every comment from the AV Club seems

Or Spy, which was great.

I like those guys quite a bit, too.

I haven't seen this episode of Quincy since the 90s, so I might have to reevaluate, but my memory is that the tag line at the end is what really sunk it. It's one thing to show a bunch of cartoonish nihilistic punks and scratch your head about them. Ok, so the squares in a Hollywood writer's room don't understand

I thank you for policing my karma.

I mean, I like Radiohead and all, but couldn't this basically be promo material for OK Computer in 1997? It's getting a little samey, guys.

Eh, I'd have just got on with it, as being a movie director with one credit on a movie that was super compromised is better than being a writer of a few mediocre movies.

That was the show.

One of the weirdest shows I ever went to ended with Badly Drawn Boy singing "Don't Stop Believing" and flipping off the crowd.
