Octopus is merely maintaining the balance. For every new Joy Division fan, one must be sacrificed. So it was written. So it shall be.

The A.V. Club

Even before the first Fantastic Four movie came out (well, not the very first one, but let's be real here) I recall telling a friend of mine that their biggest problem was going to be that the origin of the F4 is one of the most bland and perfunctory in comics history. And this was my solution:

Wait until February.

I bought one and I clean all my clothes with it.

Me too, according to my dad. Hell of a first movie.

No way. She's totes The Rani.

Hmmm… I guess this is how my parents' generation felt when they saw Green Day playing at Woodstock.

I'll take Neon Bible over all of the other Arcade Fire albums put together.

Lord, may I never get so snarky that "Cajun who throws playing cards OF FIRE" isn't cool to me.

Quick story: For my birthday one year, a friend of mine bought me tickets to see live wrestling. Which is ridiculous 'cause I don't really watch wrestling. But I'm sitting there at a Smackdown taping, watching Batista and whoever come out when all of a sudden the bagpipes start up and Rowdy Roddy Piper comes out. And,

Animal Crackers > A Night At The Opera > Duck Soup

It's also slightly moving, near the end, when Dunst's character gets back on the bus, and you realize how her childhood dreams have been completely trashed and distorted by these money-grubbing pageant officials.

"But most importantly, little Ricky believed me…"

I saw it as a kid and I wonder if that plays into why I loved it so much. With an adult sensibility, I can't quite put it in the same category as Fargo or O Brother, but it's probably the Coen Brothers movie I was most obsessed with at the time.

Best Doctor Who? The very first one.

And They Might Be Giants wrote the Dr. Evil song from The Spy Who Shagged Me.

…this writer likes it.

It's an impression of Todd Rundgren doing an impression of Billy Joel doing an impression of Todd Rundgren. Up to you whether than constitutes being 'new', 'radical' or 'secretly influential'.

"Love" is Sixpence None The Richer's best song. There are two versions of it I've heard and they're both great.
