One of their best episodes, too.
One of their best episodes, too.
This is pretty obscure, but I used to watch a sitcom called "E.R." back in the 80s. I'm not sure if it was any good - I remember it basically being Night Court in a hospital - but I liked it as a kid. Then, well, you know…
Not really fair.
So a guy can't be disappointed that a beloved family member let politics get in the way of their relationship without being called smug idiot by a stranger on the internet.
Please understand… this is heartbreaking.
Well, yeah. She should get her own movie. We agree about that.
Sorry. Let me say the thrill is gone for me.
Good point. I love, too, how he takes the Doctor on an emotional arc, starting from a paranoid bigot to, basically, a proto-Yoda.
Well, with Delta it's sorta both thick and thin. The main plot is a little bland - if I remember correctly, it's basically the Doctor trying to foil a kidnapping plot. But there's a whole lot of random other stuff crammed in there, too. There are the two goofy American agents with some story about Sputnik. There's the…
Yeah, but my theory on Independence Day is that part of the thrill was that we saw these things as basically indestructible. Like, it would take an alien invasion to blow up the White House. It seemed like pure fantasy.
Needs more Giant Mechanical Spider.
In fairness, though, it's a common thing in comics to have cameos like that. There was a whole series of Batman/Superman comics and I'm sure Wonder Woman showed up in those.
Opposite for me. I don't really like how explicit they make the love/hate relationship between the Doctor and him in the Saxon arc - and his plot in that arc is just about the most cynical thing in Doctor Who history - but I kind of like his madness in The End of Time. He's fun, there.
Eh, I'd rate Paradise Towers over Dragonfire, story-wise. It's weirdly directed, though.
Yeah, Six is way more upfront and moralistic than Seven. He wouldn't trick Davros into blowing up Skaro. He'd do it himself.
I loved Ace, as a kid. She's basically a ninja turtle.
Totally agree with that. And I'm loving it, since Hartnell is my favorite of all the Doctors.
Yeah, I could easily imagine a pretty basic rewrite of this story working in the new show.
Five was "my" Doctor, but only because I was watching reruns in America on PBS. Seven was the current Doctor at that time, so we're probably all around the same age.
When the shift happened between David and Matt, the same thing happened, though, only it was "too young" and "ugly". And it was maddening, I gotta say. If anything, I think Capaldi has had an easier time than I expected.
