I owned one for 2.5 years/47k miles (2014 JKU).

So basically download this, pop it into a Raspberry Pi, and power it by pedaling once the world ends to figure out what to do. Done!

I’m with you on the soft coolers. Nothing I put into a soft cooler needs to stay cold for days, because they simply don’t hold that much stuff. Also, they always end up getting beaten up or punctured so they no longer hold water.

It’s probably not a bad idea to just have a few of the big 5 gallon water jugs around for situations like this. I have always had a few for refilling my fish tank during water changes, but I can see them being extremely useful for emergency preparedness too. The deposit is like $5.

That’s exactly what I was saying - the testing occurs at the supplier of the component. I’m sure FCA has some standards for what testing must occur, but it’s more cost effective to do that at the supplier than after they arrive at the engine plant.

Yeah in theory there probably should be. Sometimes they just check in on the supplier’s QA testing process and as long as it meets all of their own criteria they will not test the parts once they come in house. Again, it really depends on the supplier, company, and importance of the part.

This is exactly my theory. People seem to expect companies to test every single screw that comes into a plant and make sure it’s up to spec. In reality, it’s very common for suppliers to perform their own quality testing of the parts, and it would be an unnecessary step to test them again unless you have had

You can’t test every single part that comes into your plant. I’m sure the supplier is responsible for testing - it’s a great way to optimize your assembly lines vs. unpacking and testing all of the parts in-house.

In summation, it is basically the most practical enthusiast car ever made.

Not sure why, but this was the first thing I thought of:

I’m with you on it - when the “independent 3rd party” stops becoming an independent 3rd party, then they are useless. Also, if the buyer had walked, it would be good to know what came up on the PPI so you can either address it or plan accordingly.

100% depends which port you plug it into. Most cars have 1 that is always on, and 1 that is only on when the key is turned to on. That is my assumption, because there’s no way it can pull power from a port that is not getting power.

I had a similar experience to this with a laptop I was flipping. Snagged a great deal on a used Macbook Pro 13" with some software issues. Wiped the hard drive, reinstalled the OS, and posted for sale for a $150 profit. It was a 6 year old laptop listed for $350, and the buyer paid $50 or $75 to get it inspected at

Pro Tip - at this point it doesn’t even matter. Everything is so computer controlled/interconnected that even the “manual” stuff breaks.

I’ve definitely seen this on Jalopnik before!

You just know that the only time Canadian currency makes its presence known in the US is when a vending machine rejects it.

When you lease a car that you essentially know WILL BREAK DOWN, and probably has new/hard to get parts... how is that factored into ownership? I’m assuming lease term stays the same, as do miles, so you will effectively be paying ~$1700/mo to drive a base Giulia if you’re lucky as a loaner car...

No the logic is that if something has been loved/cared for, do you feel okay with destroying it by street parking it in NYC? If you’re going to do that, you should go for the POS that has been beat on then just clean it up and make it as nice as you care to.

This is tough... 2008 Challenger SRT8s with 15k miles or less on them (autotrader) start at mid-high 20s. Based on the articles from Hot Rod, this car seems to be well sorted (for now). HP/$ ratio is fantastic, but it’s also someone else’s project.
