It’s tough because it’s a compromise on the “do truck stuff” front and a compromise on the “do off road stuff” model that makes trucks and wranglers sell well. They look cool, in Rubicon trim, otherwise they are a bit disproportional (at least to me) with the small Sport wheels.

Apple is generous too - you have 24 hours or so for all app purchases to decide to keep or ask for a refund.  In Tesla’s case it’s being handled poorly, but if the person used the feature they “accidentally” purchased then they should be stuck with it.  That makes the “butt purchase” less plausible.  100% agreed it’s

I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s probably going to be a $5k-$10k premium over the V6/2.0T, and/or only be available as the Rubicon trim, similar to the alleged V8 model in the works.

Except that Jeep has awful reliability / questionable build quality, and Ford took a bunch of pain points Jeep owners have to go aftermarket for, and made them factory standard (mirrors on pillar, not door, lockers/35s on all models, etc).

Your comment made me think of this - it’s almost like they’re taking the Apple/iOS approach to the Wrangler’s Android.

Except nobody pays close to sticker from volume truck dealers.

It’s expected that they’ll bring it back in a year or so.  We’ll see if that happens!  (I think the XT launched a year or two after the last gen debut)

We have an F150 as a utility/plow vehicle. While I enjoy driving it around from time to time, it is MASSIVE and isn’t even a crew cab.

I think the pricing strategy hurts the Gladiator.

They just teased the Rubicon 392 trim though. If that does make it to production, expect Rubicon + $15k on top EASILY since there are some bigger tires / accessories tacked on. The concept also comes with half doors, which are polarizing.

This is literally what every Wrangler with big tires and an angry grill is though. Now they’ll be able to do it with the “Rubicon 392" trim, except that’ll be a dude in a $75k Jeep versus someone in a Base Sasquatch Bronco.

What you don’t realize is that the “Base” Bronco compares to the Wrangler Sport S, not the standard Sport.

I did the same with my ‘14 JKU Sport while I had it.

Great writeup!

What will be most missed in all Wrangler vs Bronco comparisons:

Finally, a way to spec a JLUR above $65k!

Wrangler Rubicons with the 4.10 ratio only come with 33" tires. You can go to 35 with no lift on a Rubicon due to the fender liners / higher mounting, but will likely hurt performance.

This, along with the buttons/logos inside showing a Wrangler!

I originally ordered a 2 door Wrangler, then changed to a 4 door for exactly these reasons.  There was never a time that I got stuck off road due to being in a 4 door vs a 2 door, but every single time I had to fit something bigger than a laptop backpack in the back with 2 passengers I was glad I changed my mind.
