Brad Pitt, for taking a great George V Higgins crime novel and make an utterly execrable movie out of it. He stole 2 hours of my life.

Bizarre and generally disappointing social media fight? Snoop Dogg has called out Iggy Azalea as "a cunt" and "a bitch" for not looking and singing the way I guess he wants his blonde white artists to look and perform. She is a fucking woman trying to make it in the cruel and fickle world of pop music which, by the

Yeah. What's up with that?

It's going faster than a Jezebel writer.

Yay, that's my picture :D Totally agree, by the way.

This opinion is empirically wrong. ((full disclosure this is my favorite episode of the whole run. I will have a detailed and sane discussion about it if you like:->)

Dying is the best outcome you can hope to have if you're stuck in an Ellison story.

Ooooh, this story haunts me to this day. Harlan Ellison is a master!

I understand the outrage and I sympathize with Eric. No one deserves to be bullied and/or harassed, no one deserves the kind of awful abuse he no doubt endured. However, he threw the first punch, in response to something said verbally. That equals an assault and battery charge.

he was verbally bullied, which isn't right - I'm not saying the guy who kicked his ass was right in this situation and a victim. But justice is not so cut and dry, sorry. More than one person can be wrong in a situation - he made a conscious decision to escalate a problem to a physical level.

I'll be that guy. It doesn't matter if he was unevenly matched or not, he started the PHYSICAL altercation - assault charges in a perfect system would still charge him with being the instigator.

I do grant you that, I cannot know your pain, and am constrained by that.

Except you don't know the context either. There is no indication that the alleged victim has a history of receiving physical abuse from these people. All we know is that he struck first (fact) and threatened the school (fact).

"It is also clear from the level of injury that the kids who beat Eric did not need to do so to the extent that they did in mere self-defense."

"Eric just has a short fuse and was soooooo scary with his single thrown punch he had to be beaten to the point of hospitalisation by a group of kids.... And if you believe that,"

Wow. That managed to put words in my mouth and be both intellectually dishonest as well as terribly condescending.

I think looking to build a case from "Look, I know these kinds of kids", is a problem. It really needs to be "Look, I know [] these kids." They may well be EXACTLY the kind of vicious, malignant kids you go on to describe. But I can't see how you can make the case without some preceding behaviours or actions from them

Listen, as horrible as this is, you can't respond to words with violence. It is just not okay. I can't tell you the number of times people have said things to me that made me want to bash their teeth in. I didn't do it because that is not how civil society works.

Used to be an old point and click adventure too. Most depressing game I ever played I think. Just when you think you won it ... well we know what goes down.
