Option?  It should be standard.  Or better yet, rework the exhaust to put the cat in a less accessible area.  I have never had to replace the cat on any of my cars, even the ones I kept for over 10 years.  It’s not like it’s an oil filter that gets changed once or twice a year.

I’d have said six, especially since it will be the other guy’s insurance paying out for it.
