Some of the worst classroom experiences I've ever had have involved teaching Shakespeare (as an English teacher) to drama students. Not because they were bad students, but because they assumed that a mere literature teacher couldn't possibly get Shakespeare the Man of the Theater.

Heh, I scrolled down instantly to see if he made the list (I did like Jessica Jones but he really was terrific in it).

Go on, try to find some flab!

Tennant was amazing in this episode (as well as the last one). He totally deserves award nominations, though I don't imagine a Marvel property will get them for him.

One knows one is in a state when one rewatches Tennant's Richard II in order to see him being not!evil. I mean, Richard II is pretty fucked up, as a person.

Plus he's just working out his aggression before going to law school.

A world run by snooty garbagemen

And really, there needs to be more people falling on their asses in Christmas songs. Right now there's just this and "Please, Daddy, Don't Get Drunk This Christmas."

If you hang out on the right websites you can spend the entire month of December reading arguments about whether that song is date rapey.

The third one is the one that has "Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution" in it! (Not that I know any more of it, but that's pretty memorable, although it's kind of a cut-rate version of La Marseillaise…)

That stupid marshmallow song that I hear in every single commercial break…

Still temporarily insane

I've had the privilege of singing it twice — once in the original arrangement at my all-girls high school, and once in the SATB arrangement in college. The SATB arrangement is terrible, but I will always treasure the experience anyway, because I was the soloist in the number leading into "Balulalow". The director said

Well, we only get 30 sweet noggy days before the government takes it away again…

Yeah, this show has got me pretty convinced I'm going to hell.

Maybe it's the salt water in my veins, or the nitrogen bubbles in my brain, but I've taken a real shine to you

And his Shakespeare plays — his Hamlet is just stellar and his Richard II is my favorite thing ever.

Holy hell, that is terrifying.

Along the same lines, I cringe whenever Data lifts up his thumbnail on Star Trek TNG.
