This one is the one that terrified me the most — it aired when I was about five and my reaction was akin to toddler Bart Simpson with his horrible clown bed. It was actually pretty great to see it on youtube as an adult and exorcise a longstanding childhood trauma.
That Ghoulies poster was HORRIFYING. FOR GOD'S SAKE IT WAS IN THE TOILET.
I loved that show, but that slime was super gross. It's because it was chunky.
I was horribly freaked out by the Garbage Pail Kids cards as a kid — I was in I think third grade when they were a big thing, and a lot of my classmates collected/traded them, which made school pretty uncomfortable for a while. I still think they are pretty damn creepy.

She's touching my special area!
Oh, come on, its air is only poisonous to children and the elderly!
They can be two things!
Yeah, but it's hard to be too freaked out when you know it's Nancy Cartwright…
"Here's an appealin' fellow — in fact, they're a-peelin' him off the sidewalk!"
So basically the same plot as Pod People? (It has nothing to do with pods. It has nothing to do with people. It has everything to do with HURTING!)

Wait, is it a live chicken? And is it going to be fed to other people?
"What we got back…didn't live long. Fortunately."
They're entertaining lies! And in the end, isn't that what really matters? The answer is no.
I thought the gore in the Sideshow Bob segment was actually pretty disturbing, partly because, although it was relatively subdued, it also wasn't funny. (The sledgehammer beating was especially gross.)
22 also had that godawful Diving Bell and the Butterfly parody where Homer can only communicate by farting. Although I hated the Avatar parody — the fact that the plot of it pretty much revolved around Bart having alien sex grossed me out, because he's ten!
Nah, 22 was much worse. But this one wasn't very good either, for pretty much all the reasons you said.
And they'll never let them show that again!
The early-teen seasons (really, the teen seasons just generally) have the worst Treehouse episodes, definitely — there have been some okay segments in more recent years. Last year's special and the year before it were both pretty decent by present-day Simpsons standards — I thought this year's was definitely a step…
