This show’s operating on a whole different level than anything else on television right now, and I love the shit out of it. John Goodman, Walton Goggins, and Edi Patterson...goddamn.

Blew through the first campaign—Vox Machina—during the pandemic after resisting it for so long. And, whew, did I fall in love with these characters. Watching a well-done TTRPG stream doesn’t feel like watching people play a game, mostly. It’s just...improv with a few more steps. And I love good improv.
Rude Tales of Magic is basically already a Looney Tunes show. It would kill on like, [Adult Swim] or FX/X. Anyway, it’s the best of the bunch.
RIP, A.V. Club. I’ll miss you.
Jed MacKay’s run*.
Who’s also written what I think is the definitive Black Cat.
I liked it, too! It did feel like it was missing something without Wes’s hand guiding the action. Like, it wasn’t as tightly put together, but it’s also nothing that couldn’t be made up for with some time and experience. I liked the new leads. I liked it less than I liked Scream 4, which is my second-favorite after…
I agree, yeah. But that run is weird, too. A psychiatrist—that may or may not be in Marc’s head—just straight up says “an alien god has invaded your brain.”
Mexican-Americans losing another show for us, made by us? Oh no, I’m shocked.
Democrats are fucking awful at marketing and selling ideas. Somehow. They would only have made this 110% worse.
This man used to get people to eat gross shit on TV for money. Nothing’s changed except the grift’s gotten bigger and deadlier. He may be a “good interviewer” or whatever, but he’s also a moron. Why do people think he’s smart? He’s never been smart! He’s that drunk asshole at the sports bar yelling at the TV, except…
Absolute riot of a shot. I loved it, and I thought Sofia Black-D’Elia was fantastic. Still wild that since it was canceled, THAT is the way her character’s story ended. I mean, hilarious but also damn, bleak.
To be fair, both Boba and the Rancor were given similar depths in the old EU, pre-Disney. Boba was more akin to Conan, though, and the Rancor story was cute & sad and that poor Rancor. :(
Yeah. It has all the ingredients and even individual moments for a show that I should love, but I’m settled on just sort of enjoying it right now.
Boba’s been a clone child, teenage serial killer, unscrupulous bounty hunter and killer, Sarlacc food, someone who helps oppressed peoples fight back against their oppressors, someone who saves dying people in the desert, and now he’s trying his hand at being Tattoine’s resident crime lord. I’m into it.
mutant nation’s internal investigative force and the protectors of its peace
There’s a key difference, though: Unless I’m mistaken, Helena wasn’t really blind about it growing up, and was part of what pushed her into fighting crime.
Which is good. I hate when Batman’s overly huge. He should be Bruce Lee-esque. Lean and fast. The dude is a Bat-ninja!
I did hate that reveal. Mostly because it’s just...Helena’s origin pasted on top of Bruce’s.
But I loved what they did with The Riddler and the Joker’s origin/takes.
I was both annoyed and happy that it was a bumpy road to where we ended up. It makes sense to me that offense and defense are equally important, but I can see why it wouldn’t make sense to Daniel or Johnny. The writing has been strong enough to make both their viewpoints make sense. Also loved that Daniel ran up to…
Finished the season. The ending ruled. Very exciting for season five.
