I had a scary thought that Tartt Sr. and his crew were going to jump him. They’re exactly the hooligans to try something like that, especially after Beard tossed him out. Whenever a character “goes off on their own” like that, gah, I get a bad feeling. This description makes me feel better, though. I love Coach Beard. 

A bit of a comedown from the last two episodes for me. Felt a little too unfocused. Friggin’ loved Nadja’s whole “I like Gail!” bit, and Kristen Schaal’s “It’s my first website, and I think I did a good job.”

I disagree only because Spike is so chill and depressed that, of course, his ultimate foil is some angry, baroque asshole with a long sword and big bird. Keep him emo and keep Spike cool. 

I think he served his purpose in the OG trilogy. I’m cool with him not being here anymore. But I hope whoever is the antagonist of this film can live up to Smith at his weirdest.

I don’t really want to watch another Zoom movie—look, John Cho’s 2018 film Searching was the high mark for the genre—but...well, this sounds pleasant, and I very much like Natalie Morales. So, guess I’m in?

As long as the actor nails the “Then why are you STILL ALIVE?!” break then he’ll be fine.

Huh, I 100% didn’t get any romantic undertones between the two of them. There was an absolute lack of physical or emotional awkwardness, that to me read more like siblings. Which is all to say, this is one of those cases where people really can read it either way.

...what? Mulaney doesn’t have any kids, and he was apparently already separated from his ex-wife when he and Munn got together.

Goodbye, you weird show that should never have worked for me as a fan of Cary’s “Lucifer” run but totally did. I will miss you dearly, but I can’t wait to spend these final hours with you. 

The finale was…really fucking good. Like, I get there’s an internal resistance to storificarion and canon, but the lore heavy episodes are usually some of my favorites. 

God damn it. I can’t believe that the world’s going to be denied any future work from him. What a loss. A tremendous talent, and easily one of my favorite actors. He was amazing in The Wire, of course, but I will always remember his turn in Community and his monologue about Lego. 

I’m with you, Marah. Totally romantic undertones to Katy and Shang-Chi. Like, subtle in that “they don’t realize it but everyone else does” kind of way that I love, but I totally bought into them. I’m still hoping we get Immortal Hulk one day. They’re already going into the world of horror with the new Doctor Strange, and they introduced Betty in What If? So, maybe…?

So, it was three different films mashed together. Maybe four if you count “superhero” film. I also think the fight sequences could have used more room to breathe. Zoom out, man! Set the stage and let us see how it all works. Even so, I found myself charmed by how awkwardly everything fit together during the ride, and…

I will say that Wellington Paranormal uses its lower SFX budget well. It looks cheaper, but some of those “spookier” episodes can be downright scary.

I don’t know why I was worried they might not stick the landing from last season’s cliffhanger. I should know better by now. But they did it. They resolved it in a surprising and cool way. Guillermo rules.
