I found the ending really optimistic. Sure, it was a gutpunch simply because Dev and Rachel are adorable together, but neither of them are depressed or anything—they are seeking out their passions. In fact, if not for Rachel buying him a pasta maker, Dev might still figuring his shit out.

This was a brilliant finale episode. I got the sense that this whole season was building to Dev's decision to go move to Italy; but with subtlety. We saw that Dev was inspired by his parent's/Brian's father's immigration stories, as well as Grandma Carol's stories of light car-theft and hitch-hiking to see Sinatra.…
