I saw pix of the carnage. The wheels alone on some of those bikes were worth thousands.

Out here in Antivaxxistan Suburbans are referred to as MPCs. (Mormon Personnel Carriers)
I’ll just slap on a $85 carbon fiber pick guard from Ebay on my vintage 80s MIJ strat and be money ahead by about $5,000 or so. Although that would probably just devalue the strat.
So what happens to me in the middle of the Mojave when my Rivian’s subscription that allows me to turn the wheel more than 20 degrees runs out and I have no cell service to Google Pay them? It’s probably an auto- renewable subscription you can never get out of even after you sell the Rivian so I guess it’s not a…
The victims don’t even need a civil suit, the judge can order restitution to the victims at sentencing. That’s better than a civil suit because Kelly can’t discharge it in a bankruptcy.
XJ easily. Owned two for a combined total of 26 years. Nothing went wrong with the first one except the hatch struts wearing out in the Alaska cold and a bad tank of gas. The second one (2000 model year) lasted 14 years and its only problem was the ignition locked up and had to be replaced ($279) that’s it for 146K…
Why isn’t that Saab on BaT?
I commented somewhere above or below on Wheels Manufacturing too. I have been building bikes from the frame up since the mid 80s (dozens). I discovered Wheels Manufacturing a few years ago when I needed to replace a creaking POS PF30 BB that Specialized had spec’d on my fatbike. I will never use another brand. Maybe…
Came here to mock Orlove’s obvious unfamiliarity with the bastard child of bottom brackets- the press-fit BB. But you did it for me. I replaced mine with a Wheels Manufacturing BB that threads into itself and banishes the press-fit to the ash heap of BB history along with square taper spindles.
Great link. Thanks for posting it.
No crossing state lines needed. EPA delegates responsibility for enforcing the Clean Air Act to the states. EPA requires states (or counties thereof) that are in “non attainment” for the National Ambient Air Quality Standards to have emissions testing programs for mobile sources. If you bypass the emissions standard…
EPA Criminal Investigation Division has over the years gone after shops that do the mods to the chips. The problem is that they make customers sign something that says modifications are for offroad use only. One shop in Oregon even made them haul off the rig on a trailer as part of the wink and nod deal.
“like them throwing the hail mary passes, if only because it’s going to undercut any future 6th Amendment IAC claims”
K. Let’s go there to the minutiae. It is a very well-reasoned decision. Here’s the Judge’s Order. I wish journalists would include links to the specific orders.
First Gear- Two things will get me into that F-150 Lightning: (1) a $12,500 tax credit and (2) not having to pay $6K for a Generac system to power my home during power outages. I think Ford’s ads with the Lightning plugged in and the rest of the neighborhood in the dark is a powerful message in these fearful times.
You could drive this until the climate police put out an arrest warrant for you for driving it in the year 2040.
Not a single vote for Ladas? I’ve seen those things in places in Central Asia where no vehicle this side of a heavily modified Kamaz should be.
I loved my 88.5 Samurai. I had more fun in that than any of the three Jeeps and two Land Rovers I’ve owned. Now was it a rolling coffin? Yes. You’d be safer in any of the new SxSs available. Albeit at a price. Where I live you can legally drive them on the road too.
Those Isuzu Troopers were complete crap seemingly made out of recycled beer cans. I had one in Alaska. It wouldn’t even get the cabin warm enough to take off my gloves in mild (by AK standards) weather. The main bearing went out at 60K miles. Any slight corner made it feel like you were going to tip right over. Great…
Most states charge minors with licenses as adults for driving crimes. You don’t get sent to juvy for a DUI for instance. Plus most states now prosecute felony assault with a weapon (bro-dozer in this case) as adults no matter what. EPA’s CID should step in and investigate the asshole for a felony violation of the CAA…
