My first thought when I finished this comment was that that was a very Dworkin-esque take on power roles and consent but with a more nuanced look at when the power difference is especially notable. I wonder what this means for communication during sex: should everything be negotiated before hand? Is there any way to

There’s no explanation given and I haven’t been able to find one. If I’m being generous, I’d say it was a mistake as the author raced to finish. If I’m being less generous, I’d say the author is intentionally conflating them because the ACLU’s stance against the law goes against her values so it must be bad.

It was the “Ban ICE” article that threw me off and left me susceptible. I saw (but didn’t read) that one and it seemed like a plausible story (I can see how one can make an argument for dismantling ICE as it is.)

oh. this is one of those situations where they write satire that’s pretty close to some of the bad takes dished by the gawkerverse and laugh at the commenters, isn’t it?

Exactly. The possibilities for this to be exploited by politicians hellbent on delivering a ‘win’ to their team are terrifying.

I’m with him on some points (or maybe just on some general ideas) but this steps too firmly into the “government knows best” camp for me and i’m pretty much a socialist.

Seriously, some of this seems like it was intentionally phrased as poorly as possible. It combines some of the worst impulses of the right and left into one terrible garbage disposal of an idea.

Cardi B’s feminism is explicitly capitalist and self-centered. You can make a convincing case for why she’s entitled to embrace capitalism and self-deification (she’s marginalized in many ways, etc) but...I can’t. Her public persona is hollow and shallow; her music is eh, at best—subjective, i know, but her lyrics are

The reactions to this possible crime are quite different from the comments on other articles about spousal death.

you are my hero.

Your name is incredibly accurate. I salute your commitment to the books!

i think your interpretation is right...the blog post is just poorly written and juggles too many lines of thought for its own good.

You should look up libel laws re: Public Figures. You get a lot more protection under the law than she does.

This museum is incredible and this sounds like an amazing addition. I love the idea of expanding the tenement museum so that more people can see how their family members (whether immediate or more distant) may have lived.

I hope he shares this with his followers. Not that you deserve that typhoon of stupidity, draining your brains and your jokes and drowning this whole place under a wave misfired synapses; only because i’d love to see what other insane shit they bring with them.

I’m sorry that happened to her.

I hate when people swoop in, drop a comment like this and then leave for a while. Not a troll account, though (she/he has a history of posting!) so i’m curious if they’ll offer more details on his behavior.

Lisa Bloom better not do any pro-bono work to help women who were assaulted/harassed!

the linked article (national post) says that the noncompliant volunteer was there as a “volunteer photographer.”
