Oh, so it wasn’t just me? A few hours ago, both Kinja and reddit took a while to load. It seems to be ok now, though.

- Red Dead Redemption 2 | PS4, Xbox One
STAT | 2 - The ranking of Red Dead Redemption 2 on Nielsen’s list of the Most Anticipated Holiday Games of 2018. The only title to beat it out was Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
LoD’s timed button inputs during combat can become old really fast. But it’s still miles better than Chrono Cross’ combat system which is NOT intuitive.
For those of you who haven’t played the game before: It has a sort-of realtime, sort-of turn-based combat system kinda like Valkyria Chronicles (time only advances as you move). It’s all about positioning your party members and building up combos.
Hopefully the guy from Shmuplations will pick this up and translate the stuff.
This is my guess as well. Someone in the comments on the other article described this in more detail.
Regarding Final Fantasy VIII, my guess is that the engine/emulation/what-have-you Square Enix used for the Steam version is very... basic to say the least. Doesn’t it still use MIDI for its music? Sure there exist mods for replacing that and other improvements, but still.
Here’s hoping they’re changing the level-up system. In The Last Remnant, there is a battle rank which increases the more you fight, and enemies become stronger according to your battle rank. That means that yes, powerleveling/grinding is actually bad for you in this game.
I never could get any of the target times to unlock cheats in this game, so congrats for this guy to tie the world record.
This reminded me of one of my favorite Overwatch animations:
Some games do incorporate music in more direct as well. Resonance of Fate plays a different version of the combat music whenever you execute an attack. It’s the same notes, but different instruments to make it more aggressive. The transition is seamless, as it picks up at the exact point each track started and ended.
He probably had to rush it in order to finish his review. Since you’re meant to play the game in short bursts and take a break now and then, playing it so rapidly turned the frustrating grind up to eleven. Of course that gets reflected into the review.
This problem has been exaggerated a bit. I have a Day One Pro controller and while I use the joystick for movement, I tried out the D-pad on the PC version of Hollow Knight and I found it working just fine.
We got the Definite Edition announcement just recently. The game is no longer stuck on that console, so it’s only fair that Lost Odyssey receives a mention instead.
So... this is basically Ark: Survival Evolved, but it runs smooth (hopefully).
I think I speak for every Tales of fan here when I say: NO WAY! Tales of Vesperia: Definite Edition is coming at last! We all dreamed of this moment, but now it’s actually happening!
Yup, Steam is 100% Twitch plays Pokemon anarchy, now more than ever.
Super Bunnyhop talked about gaming cafes in Japan two years ago. Here’s the video of it:
The intro, music and voice acting hold up well today - but the rest of the game, not so much.
