Sure, I wouldn’t suggest that FGM is comparable to, say, not allowing women to drive, or what have you. I think part of the issue is that it’s such a horrific practice that people feel more justified in engaging in behavior that verges on white imperialism.

If you actually read what I’ve written, you’d realize that I didn’t say we should only speak out about injustices in our own culture. I’m saying that Western feminists should not dominate the conversation. Not that we shouldn’t take part in it at all.
