How'd it get burned?

I almost second that, but I’d say The Handmaid’s Tale was good enough not to pale in comparison. Also I’ve been catching up on The Leftovers and that’s an excellent show.

Looked like a different actress to me, although it was a good likeness.

I get how people who aren’t white wouldn’t want to refer to themselves as ‘non-white’, but if you’re talking about how a white filmmaker sees the world I’d think ‘non-white’ is entirely appropriate- as in ‘here’s what this white guy does with characters who aren’t white’. It’s simply descriptive.

That was amazing and I’m 90% sure I loved it.

I would agree, except for the fact that the inability to sort comments is more or less a deal-breaker. It’s somewhat usable now, but only because there aren’t many comments.

Of all the great acting in this, Ann Dowd needs some special praise. She took her character from being the leader of the world’s most annoyingly morbid cult in season one to being outright hilarious in this episode. That theatrical ‘we’re secretly blowing up the world’ wink had me in stitches.

I do see what you mean, but for me something has to work on the ‘real’ level (of character actions and motivations) as well as on a metaphorical level- unless it’s something downright surreal like the new Twin Peaks. The Leftovers has strange things in it, but (most of) the characters generally behave in reasonable

Ouch. I solved that by being unable to transfer in the first place. It wanted my email address, and I’m pretty sure I used a burner address that no longer exists for the purpose.

Yeah, it’s an unfortunate state of affairs. Now I’ve been de-greyed I’m finding Kinja to be only about twice as annoying as Disqus was, provided the number of comments doesn’t get really big. But hey, it doesn’t seem likely to get big.

...come to think of it, if you gotta plot, plotting against Bran would be the smart move- he’s both weird and personally very dangerous to Littlefinger. Why was getting rid of Arya such an urgent priority anyway?

Apart from anything else, it was a horribly unsatisfying end for Littlefinger. Surely his conniving would have been much more dangerous doing what he was originally doing, driving a wedge between Sansa and Jon? Still implausible, of course, but much less so after the knee-bending-followed-by-sexing incident.

Testing

Hey, Mr O’Neal, a few days ago you were talking about this Kinja thing and I got the impression people could get themselves turned into real live non-grey commenters by asking you nicely. Is that still happening? If so, could you kindly make it happen again?

Holy cats my comment’s in black! I’m some way towards being a real internet person again!

“With a very few exceptions it’s safer to be a human being now than at any other time in all of history”

I’m more bothered by the adverts looking the same as the articles. That and the fact that (a) I don’t think anybody can read my comments, and (b) the commenting system is pretty useless for any reasonably large number of comments.

Also, ‘pending approval’? Is that what being grey means? Seems like either there are going to be much fewer and less active discussions, or staff members are going to have to waste a whole lot of time...

I’m hugely confused, and since I can’t see any way of logging in using my old AV Club account I’m experimenting with this one...

Dumb fun is a pretty low bar for a show or movie to clear, though, and Game of Thrones used to offer quite a bit more than that- although I was never with the people who put it up there with the best shows of all time. It’s gone from being a generally well-made, compelling drama to a silly big-budget action movie.
